Over the years, we've been lucky enough to get some great superhero movies featuring the likes of the Avengers, Spider-Man, and the X-Men. But there is one group that just hasn't had the same: the Fantastic Four. The first two movies were watchable, but very lacklustre. The new one has yet to be released, but fans are already unhappy. Part of that is due to the cast being too young or unfitting for the roles. That is why I am bringing you my own fan recasting of the Fantastic Four.

Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards - Tom Cavanagh

To me, one of the problems with Mr. Fantastic's casting, with both Ioan Gruffudd and Miles Teller, is that they are too young. In the comics, Reed Richards is middle aged. He has always been older than the likes of say Cyclops or Hawkeye. That's why I went with Tom Cavanagh (The Flash). Cavanagh, age 51, is around the right age to portray Reed Richards (I've always pictured him being in his mid-to-late 40s). Cavanagh looks the role, and has proven that he can easily play the scientist/superhuman/leader.

Invisible Woman/Sue Storm - Malin Akerman

Malin Akerman (Watchmen, Trophy Wife) would be perfect the Invisible Woman. Akerman (37) fits perfectly with Cavanagh's 51 year old Richards. Sue Storm was always younger than Reed Richards, but still old enough to be considered the "mom" of the group. Akerman is no stranger to comic book movies either, portraying the second Silk Spectre in Watchmen. Her looks, acting ability, and comic background make Akerman a perfect choice for the Invisible Woman.

Human Torch/Johnny Storm - Lucas Till

Lucas Till (X-Men: First Class) would be the best choice right now to portray Johnny Storm. In the comics, Storm is the young, immature, heart-throb of the group. Till, being a young 24, would fit this role to a tee. He's got the looks, which like it or not are important in the media. That alone would push a few teen girls who may not be too invested in the movie to go buy a ticket. He has superhero experience too. Unfortunately, that experience is why we could not see this fancast happen in real life (FOX owning and producing both X-Men and FF movies). However, if another comic book studio were to gain rights and reboot this franchise, they would have to look at Till.

The Thing/Ben Grimm - Jeffrey Dean Morgan

This one was actually a hard one to fancast because the actor would probably only be seen for the beginning of the movie. I came to the decision of Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Watchmen) due to his size and his performance as The Comedian. He knows how to play a tough guy like Grimm. I feel like he would be able to handle all the mo cap acting as Thing as well. Plus, as an added bonus he would already have some chemistry with Malin Akerman.

So there you have it, my own fan recasting of the Fantastic Four. Let me know who you would cast as the heroes. Or what about Dr. Doom?
