The long road to Bad Boys 3 could finally be nearing a recognizable junction as Sony Pictures makes its move on the script!
After years of conjecture, Sony Pictures has finally taken its first steps in the development of Bad Boys 3 . Sony has enlisted the multitalented writer/director Joe Carnahan to put pen to paper in an effort to forge a new era of Bad Boy badassery.
Carnahan has been tasked to take over from David Guggenheim and craft the next chapter to the Bad Boys franchise. There is even talk that Carnahan will have the opportunity to direct the next installment. Whether the fans, and Mr. Bay for that matter, will have something to say about this is another thing altogether.
What a day, the good news just keeps on coming. According to Sony the entire Bad Boys project has been put on the fast track list. Sony wants a full movie up and ready to go by the time Will Smith finishes his filming on his current project, Suicide Squad. Will Smith is currently filming in Canada for his role in Suicide Squad, playing the infamous Deadshot.
If any of this is to be truly believed we could potentially see Bad Boys 3 in cinemas before the end of 2016! Are we now able to say - "It just got real"?
Carnahan has earned his stripes with Sony for the remarkable work he did on Liam Neeson' arctic thriller, The Grey. He is no stranger to the franchise game either, he was the man responsible for bringing us the 2010 adaptation of The A Team.
Are you comfortable with leaving the Bad Boys franchise in the hands of Carnahans or will you be campaigning for the return of Michael Bay?
It has been a whopping twenty years since the original hit theaters back in 1995 and just over a decade since we last saw the comedic duo romping around Miami in Bad Boys 2 (2003).
I think I speak for all of us when I say that we are more than ready for the next chapter from Mike Looooowrey and Marcus Burnett.
