We all know giant pandas are an endangered species - except it seems, when it comes to Kung Fu Panda 3.

In the original DreamWorks animation, Po - voiced by Jack Black - has never met another panda, having originally been raised by a goose. However, from the first Kung Fu Panda 3 images, we can see he finally makes contact with his kin - including a few very special individuals.

Take a look at the first, fun and frolic filled images below:

According to USA Today, Po will uncover a "secret panda village" in which his real, biological father Li, voiced by Bryan Cranston, also lives. However, it also seems a love interest might be on the horizon - although as we all know, getting two pandas to hook-up is hardly easy. USA Today writes:

Also found in the village: an overeager, amorous young female panda Mei Mei (Rebel Wilson), a wannabe ribbon dancer. This does not turn out to be a panda love story.
"Po's a little freaked out, since he's never been around a female of his own species," star Jack Black said. "I don't think he has game in that realm yet."

Although it seems we're going to meet a lot of new characters, Kung Fu Panda 3 will also see the return of some familiar faces and voices, including Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Monkey (Jackie Chan), Mantis (Seth Rogan), Viper (Lucy Liu), Crane (David Cross) and Mr. Ping (James Hong).

From the looks of things, Kung Fu Panda 3 might offer a lot of closure for the character of Po. The second movie certainly pulled on the heartstrings regarding his relationship with his estranged parents. Remind yourself of that in the video below:

Kung Fu Panda 3 is due to arrive in theaters on January 29, 2016.
