The Last Guardian is easily one of the most anticipated games out there, sitting awfully close to Half-Life 3. Announced for the PS3 back in 2009, fans everywhere were excited to play the new game from Team Ico (the company that developed Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus). But as time went on, things were becoming silent. The hype was dropping, and some even wondered if The Last Guardian would ever see the light of day.
Starting today, we can't stop wondering! Just moments ago, Team Ico graced the stage during Sony's conference at E3, giving us new details on what is to come from the now PS4 title, The Last Guardian!

The seven minute trailer was absolutely beautiful! Even when looking back at what was revealed in 2009, the graphics were still holding up pretty well! But now? They're 10x better! But the game isn't just beautiful from a graphical point-of-view. In the trailer we saw the emotional attachment between the boy and the animal, Trico. It is very impressive that Team Ico is able to express such companionship between two characters, especially when there was hardly any verbal communication involved.
During the gameplay, we saw several things. For starters, we saw some of the minor animation details that have been mentioned in the past, such as the boy reaching out to pet Trico without any input from the player. Though this seems small (and it is), it will help make the game feel much more realistic!
We also got to see some interesting moments of puzzle solving! It appears that we, as the boy, will be able to call out to Trico in certain moments during the game to get his attention to help us with a puzzle. Some of these instances were extremely tense, leaving all of us on the edge of our seats, fearing for either the boy's or Trico's life.
To be completely honest, I was an emotional wreck. Not just because of the intensity of the game, but because this is what we've all been waiting to see! It's finally here! The Last Guardian is alive and well!
Shuhei Yoshida (President of Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment) came on stage directly after the trailer was revealed, and was clearly just as excited as we were!
"I could not be happier standing here today! You don't know how long I have waited for this moment to re-introduce The Last Guardian with first ever seen gameplay footage on the PlayStation 4!
Yoshida went on to acknowledge Fumito Ueda, the creative director behind The Last Guardian, "for all his creativity, leadership, and hard work."
Unfortunately, there are no further details as of right now, but we do know that it will be out sometime in 2016! Until then, we luckily have this incredible trailer, which is a wonderful start to this highly anticipated game! I cannot wait to hear more! How about you guys? What are you looking forward to the most?
