Chris Hemsworth, best known for playing the Asgardian superhero Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is headed to a very different kind of film in a very different kind of role. He has signed on to Paul Feig's Ghostbusters as the secretary.
Director Paul Feig took to his Twitter and posted this picture:
Paul Feig's female lead Ghostsbusters film is one that I am very much looking forward to. After seeing Spy last week I became a big fan of the director and can't wait to see what he does with this property. Paul Feig proved in Spy that he can turn an action star into a great piece of comedy with Jason Statham as Rick Ford in that film, hopefully he can do the same with Hemsworth.
Chris Hemsworth is having a great career. He stars as Thor in the Marvel films, he's been in some critically acclaimed films like Rush and looks like he's going to steal the new Vacation movie, that's what it looks like from the trailers anyway.
Of course this isn't the role you'd normally see Chris Hemsworth in and that's why I think it's such a good idea. The comedy will of course come from seeing a man of Hemsworth's stature and size play a receptionist but from the looks of Vacation and certainly in the Marvel films, he can handle his comedy well.
Hemsworth will be joining Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones and Ghostbusters hits theaters July 22nd 2016.
