According to Deadline a new Marvel Cinematic character has been cast. "12 Years a Slave" actor Chiwetel Ejofor will be playing the role of Baron Mordo, a popular Doctor Strange villain in the upcoming 'Strange' film set to release on November 4, 2016.
It's been about a week since we've learned Tilda Swinton will be portraying another popular Dr. Strange character The Ancient One. Swinton has a history of portraying male characters or even a character without a particular sex. It's still not completely understood what The Ancient One will look like in the film, but I do admire Swinton's acting ability.
I am even more confident however, after seeing the genius film and genius performance in "12 Years a Slave" by Chiwetel Ejofor, that he'll add a huge level of talent to the Marvel franchise.
For those who don't know the history of Doctor Strange, Baron Mordo, and The Ancient One, you could understand the dynamic as seen in "Kill Bill" between Beatrix, Elle Driver, and Pai Mei. Beatrix, the main character along with Elle Driver are both trained by Pai Mei and while Beatrix embraced Pai Mei as her teacher, Eller Driver killed him, causing a more intense showdown between hero and villain. Baron Mordo may however have a bit more depth to his character rather than portraying an obvious villain. Either way, it'll be interesting to see.
The casting choice that's clearly most exciting about Doctor Strange is in the casting of the main character with Benedict Cumberbatch!
Any news is fun, but I really can't wait to start seeing concept art, set images, or anything else to suppress the nerdy anticipation for this film!
