Announced by Sony, the Denzel Washington-led action-thriller "The Equalizer" sequel is going to be available nationwide on September 29, 2017. The downside? We have to wait over 2 years for it!
I wasn't one of "The Equalizer's" biggest fans, or I'd have seen it in the theaters. I rather came to appreciate the film some time later renting it from Redbox. Nevertheless, I saw it, and I was glad I did. The film which seemed like the usual action flick was quite a bit more.
I still prefer "John Wick" starring Keanu Reeves, but "The Equalizer" comes in at a close 2nd place.
Denzel Washington reprising his role should come as no surprise, I don't think a sequel would be in the works, or at least making headlines without him. At this point, only Denzel is officially confirmed for the film and while Chloe Grace Moretz did a great job in the first film, I doubt she'll return.
Assuming Denzel Washington does indeed reprise his role, this will be his first ever sequel to date.
