Movies are awesome and so are movies' dialogues. But sometimes, a dialogue hits hard. Some dialogues are either very touching, thought provoking or straight down bad ass. And in this age of Internet these dialogues or "jewels" can be immortalized easily. So here is a list of some immortal dialogues that will go down in the history of cinema.
1) "THIS IS SPARTA!" - Leonidas, 300
300, the epic by Zack Snyder was great in many aspects but this dialogue will go down in the history of cinema as it is straight up bad ass. This dialogue comes after a conversation between Leonidas, the king of Sparta and a Persian messenger before a battle between Leonidas and Xerses, the Persian king. The Persian messenger arrives at the gates of Sparta demanding the submission of Sparta to King Xerxes. In response to this demand, Leonidas and his guards kick the messengers into the large well, immediately after shouting “This is Sparta!”. Now THAT was badass.
2) "The name is Bond, James Bond." - James Bond, probably every James Bond movie.
If you haven't seen heard this dialogue before and you are reading this, then you were probably born today or you were sleeping for like 5 decades. This is one of the most bad ass lines ever and only suits the name James Bond, so if you are name is James Bond then you are one lucky guy because it doesn't fit any other name other than James Bond (The name is Shadan, Syed Shadan, nah? Okay). First used in Dr. No, this line is definitely going down in cinematic history.
3) "Not quite my tempo" - Terence Fletcher, Whiplash
The entire essence of the film, the relationship between JK Simmons' character and that of Miles Teller is summarized in this beautifully written dialogue. Short , but not at all sweet.
4) "Hasta La Vista, baby." - Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgment Day
The terminator series is undoubtedly very iconic. It has the old school action bad ass - Arnold Schwarzenegger and a lot of action. Basically, Arnie plays the role of a robot, The terminator whose work is to...terminate people. He learns this dialogue from John Conner who teaches The Terminator how to behave like humans, more precisely, he teaches him 'how to talk like humans'. That's where he learns the Spanish phrase and delivers it when he was about to shoot a liquid nitrogen frozen T-1000.
5) "You are a wizard, Harry." - Hagrid, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Not a bad ass dialogue but yes, it is pretty awesome. This line is delivered by Hagrid when he comes to get Harry for his wizard-ing school, Hogwarts and its pretty shocking for Harry. The entire scene was pretty hilarious though. The crushed cake Hagrid bought for Harry and that umbrella shotgun. PRICELESS.
6) "Why so serious?" - Joker, The Dark Knight
Before this epic Nolan piece had even come out, the line was already being used as a marketing campaign. This included the creation of whysoserious.com in May of 2007, which gave hints and clues about the Joker’s persona, and his plans for Gotham City. Several similar sites were made, mostly featuring images with The Joker’s face drawn over them and his familiar handwriting scrawled over what was originally there. This shows the power of this dialogue. The only thing more horrifying is Joker telling you this at knifepoint and that's what he exactly did with mod boss - Gamble.
7) "Here's Johnny!" - Jack Torrance, The Shining
In one of the most epic horror movies of all time Shining, Jack Torrance/Jack Nicholson has clearly gone mad and is chopping down the bathroom door with an axe to get to his wife, that's when the lines "Here's Johnny" comes. Its utterly horrifying. Imagine yourself in the bathroom and then suddenly a crazed murderer sticks his head through the door and says that. *Goosebumps!*
8) "Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now so,..." - Commissioner Gordon, The Dark Knight
This "speech" by Commissioner Gordon is another epic piece from the many pieces in the Dark Knight Trilogy. This "speech" comes after Batman saves Gordon's son from Harvey Dent/Two Face and pushes Harvey off a building's roof, killing him.
9) "Play with matches, you get burned" - Vincent Vega, Pulp Fiction
Tarantino is known for dialogues and this one can actually make you a better person. This dialogue from Pulp Fiction will go down in the history of cinema and most probably children's moral science books.
10) "Some people are worth melting for"- Olaf, Frozen
Well this dialogue definitely gets one going like "awww". Its indeed one of the those few dialogues that show the power of dialogues in movies and this one definitely hits hard.
