For a long time it was thought that Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner a.k.a. The Hulk would not be appearing in the third Captain America film, Civil War. But things may have changed.
Ruffalo told The Daily Beast that while he hasn't seen a script or been given any dates, Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., called up the actor recently thinking Ruffalo may be in the film. Ruffalo said the following:
"I don’t know! I heard a rumor about that the other day. I haven’t seen a script, nobody’s told me, and I don’t have dates. But I can only hope so! … I was talking to Robert Downey the other day, and he said, ‘Ruffalo! I heard you’re coming out here,’ and I said, ‘OK! I’ll be there.’"
What Would His Role Be?
If you've seen Avengers: Age Of Ultron and I'm guessing you have, it makes sense that Hulk wouldn't make an appearance anytime soon, and the fact that Ruffalo hasn't been shown a script or been given dates alludes to the fact that the role in question probably won't be anything big, perhaps just a cameo?
The last time we saw the big guy he was heading out to sea in a Quinjet which supposedly landed in the ocean with Hulk nowhere in sight. He had broken off all communications with the Avengers and his new found love, Black Widow.
Last week it was rumored that Hulk will be in the film to fight General Thunderbolt Ross, who has transformed into the Red Hulk, but that has not been confirmed.
What's One More Cast Member?
Civil War already has a massive cast of characters, even more so than The Avengers, so it's not entirely impossible that Marvel could squeeze Hulk in there, even if just for one scene.
Captain America: Civil War hits theaters May 6th 2016.
