Everyone loves Marvel films, but I bet you didn't know these 20 weird and wonderful facts about the actors behind the heroes!

1. Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man)

RDJ married his first wife after dating her for only 42 days! That's so Tony Stark!

2. Chris Evans (Captain America)

Chris Evans actually started to get migranes during the filming of Avengers Assemble due to the cowl he wore as Captain America. Talk about taking one for the team!

3. Chris Hemsworth (Thor)

Chris Hemsworth is married and has twins with Elsa Pataky, who played Elena in the Fast and Furious films! He was also born on a Thursday, which got it's english name from Thor!

4. Mark Ruffalo (Hulk)

Mark Ruffalo had a brain tumour and got it removed in 2002, a brain tumour is actually something that could happen in a gamma radiation mishap, turning into a giant green monster is... less likely.

5. Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye)

Renner is the eldest of six children, the youngest of whom was only born in 2011! His Marvel character isn't the only one with a secret family!

6. Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow)

Scar Jo has a twin brother, Hunter! Imagine how bad-ass it would be to have her as a twin!

7. Samuel L Jackson (Nick Fury)

Jackson's films together have grossed more than any other actor's collective films! Partly because he has been in every film ever!

8. Anthony Mackie (Falcon)

Mackie was roommates in College with Lee Pace, who went on to play Ronan the Accuser! Imagine the tension in that reunion.

9. Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier)

Before being cast as Bucky Barnes, Stan was considered for the role of Captain America himself! Wonder if he'll ever get that chance...

10. Paul Rudd (Ant-Man)

Before making it as an actor, Paul Rudd used to be a DJ at Bar Mitzvahs!

11. Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Quicksilver)

Not only has Aaron Taylor-Johnson played Quicksilver and Kick-Ass in Marvel films, but he was offered the lead role in Kingsman: The Secret Service, and was considered for the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man before Andrew Garfield was cast!

12. Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch)

In 2004, Elizabeth Olsen almost quit acting because of the way that the media treated her sister Mary-Kate when it was revealed that she had an eating disorder.

13. Chris Pratt (Star-Lord)

Before starring in Guardians of the Galaxy, Chris Pratt starred in three films nominated for the best picture oscar, three years in a row! Moneyball (2011), Zero Dark Thirty (2012) and Her (2013)!

14. Zoe Saldana (Gamora)

Zoe Saldana's husband Marco Perego actually took her surname when they married! Talk about a strong woman!

15. Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer)

Dave Bautista, the giant terrifying guy in the above picture, is a keen collector of steel lunchboxes! Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

16. Bradley Cooper (Rocket)

Bradley Cooper has been nominated for four Oscars, and was named People Magazine's sexiest man of the year in 2011. Marvel use him as a raccoon...

17. Vin Diesel (Groot)

Before becoming the lovable Groot, Vin Diesel was offered the part of Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the 2003 film! He couldn't have been much worse than Affleck right?

18. Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter)

At age 8, Atwell became a committed vegetarian after seeing chef Loyd Grossman put a live lobster into boiling water!

19. Don Cheadle (War Machine)

Cheadle took a liking to acting in the fifth grade, because he enjoyed playing the part of Templeton the rat in a school production of Charlotte's Web.

20. Paul Bettany (Vision/JARVIS)

Paul Bettany named his son Stellan after Stellan Skarsgard, who co-starred with him in "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" and "Dogville", as well as "Avengers: Age of Ultron" as Dr Erik Selvig!
