Perhaps it's the announcement that Nathan Drake will be starring in the Uncharted Remastered Trilogy on the PS4 this year that has me so insanely excited for this series. I've never been the biggest supporter for Uncharted - I have my issues with it. The gunplay has always been lacking and while I see how well structured the characters are, I haven't felt the connection with Nathan and his friends that I have with Ellie and Joel for instance.

That being said, Naughty Dog have composed some of the most spectacular set action pieces in video game history within the Uncharted franchise. Playing through the train sequence at the opening of Uncharted 2 is one of those gameplay sections that rivals some of the most tense action scenes in cinema. As it stands, with E3 teasing giant images of Nathan Drake, Uncharted 4 has me seriously hyped. But would you be even more excited for The Last of Us 2 to get a release date in 2016?

Which Naughty Dog Release Date Excites You More - The Last of Us 2 or Uncharted 4?

I adore Naughty Dog's The Last of Us, that much is clear. The characters are extremely well realised, the campaign is varied and of great length, the combat is excellent, the graphics are beautiful and hearing Gustavo Santaolalla's music in a game was a dream come true. Therefore, I naturally can't wait to see how these guys extend this franchise for The Last of Us 2 - no matter how far from the original it may drift.

But at the same time, Sony have done a remarkable job of getting us hyped for the return of Uncharted. Tom Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider demonstrate the impact that this series has had on AAA games. This formula works so well and it really feels like Nathan Drake's time to shine in the spotlight once more. The Last of Us is a dark and depressing game. I suppose both naughty Dog and their followers could do with something a bit lighter as their follow-up title.

But Naughty Dog actually did something that I didn't think was possible - they made me excited for Uncharted 4's narrative. I've never been that engaged with these characters as I've mentioned before, but seeing Drake's brother in the previous gameplay trailer was spectacularly cool. E3 is going to blow our minds with whatever Naughty Dog have planned to show off.

But what about you guys? If you were presented with a choice, would you want The Last of Us 2 to get a release date over Uncharted 4 in 2016? Which games have you enjoyed more and will uncharted be a welcome break from the dark world of The Last of Us? Let us know in the comments and I hope that E3 holds an endless degree of surprises for us all!
