With the much anticipated companion series Fear the Walking Dead getting closer and closer to debuting, official cast photos have begun to be released, as well as a very eerie poster for the series which proves the walkers are well on their way!

Check out the 6 new images and see if you can't contain your excitement for the series:

A lone walker

How excited does this make you? The official new poster shows a lone, stumbling walker at the end of a long, dark corridor, and it looks totally foreboding! Not to mention it's very in line with what we've seen with The Walking Dead (anyone else slightly reminded of the prison?).

Travis and Madison

Main stars of the show Cliff Curtis and Kim Dickens will play Travis and Madison, two school teachers in a relationship, each with children from past relationships. According to the show creator, Robert Kirkman, unlike Rick and Lori Grimes in The Walking Dead, Travis and Kim will be a much happier pair, saying:

"This is a show about two people who are a team, and they do back each other up. They do love and respect each other. They’re a happy couple, which is something that you don’t see a lot of on cable television these days...So having this interesting couple at the core of this show, fighting against the backdrop of civilization crumbling and the zombie apocalypse, really is the core of things. They’ve got two sets of kids. It’s an interesting situation."

I can only imagine a zombie apocalypse would put strain on any relationship, but I can't pretend that I'm not over the moon that we won't have to suffer through the main characters bickering their way through the whole of the first season.

Because both Madison and Travis work at a school, and at least one of their children (Madison's daughter Alicia) still attend high school, I would imagine that the school will play quite a big role in the first season - perhaps it will be overrun and the majority of their friends and coworkers will be turned, or maybe it will even end up as a great base, kind of like the prison in The Walking Dead.

Alicia and Matt

In this photo we catch Madison's daughter Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) sharing a tender moment with her boyfriend Matt (Maestro Harrell). Unfortunately, not much is known about Matt as of yet, but Alicia has been recently described by Robert Kirkman:

"Alicia is your atypical teenage girl. She excels at school. She’s on her way to college. She’s very self-sufficient. She’s very self-reliant. She’s kind of the model student and the model child."
Is she looking longingly back at Matt?
Is she looking longingly back at Matt?

It will be extremely interesting to see how Alicia copes in the apocalypse, though by Kirkman's description I would expect to see someone very capable, and unafraid of a challenge. And, after all of the strong female characters in The Walking Dead I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with another bad-ass Carol or Sasha on our hands.

The last promo shot of Alicia looks as though she's at school, and probably still in a pre-zombie apocalypse world - perhaps enjoying the last moment of a care free life she doesn't know will soon come to an end.

The show, which will be set in Los Angeles, is currently filming the first season which will be just six episodes long - much like the first season of its parent show The Walking Dead. Much of the first season will detail the initial outbreak of the zombie virus, something which viewers did not get to see in The Walking Dead due to time passing (roughly 60 days) while Rick Grimes was in his coma.

Fear The Walking Dead will premier sometime over the summer months (likely in August), which Season 6 of The Walking Dead will premier in October. Both shows will air on AMC.
