So lets face it, Batman can't beat Superman in a straight fight. So how can Batman go up against Superman? The answer might not be the one you are thinking of. If you thought Superman will hold back or be shown to be weaker than normal for Batman's sake, you are wrong. Zack Snyder has said that Batman is being adapted to Superman's world. He also said that Superman is not being adapted to accommodate Batman's DKR. Additionally he said that Superman will not be treated unrealistically for Batman's sake. So in other words, Snyder is respecting Superman. But then what about Batman? Has Snyder's love for Superman caused him to disgrace Batman? Perhaps, but the way I see it, this is a very good thing. Because this means we might be getting the pre-new 52 Batman. The one Superman called "the most dangerous man on Earth". But how will Snyder do this? Make a man able to go up against a Superman. Let's look at Batman's armour, weapons and skills to see how he will go toe-to-toe with a god.
OK, so everyone knows this is the suit Batman will face off against Superman in. This is based on the suit from TDKR comic book. But still the strongest material on Earth is titanium (in the DCU its actually promethium, a metal stronger and lighter than titanium), that is like paper to the man of steel. So that is useless to Batman. But there is a suit that even Superman couldn't dent.
If you watch the final fight in Man of Steel, you will notice that there are no scratches or dents on Zod's armour throughout the fight. This is with Superman, presumably, not holding back. About half way into the fight, Zod just discards his armour, which is probably under all the rubble now. So Batman as Bruce Wayne could buy that property and salvage the armour and add his own design and technology to it. So basically make it better and look more badass. So you end up with something like this:
As you can see there are some similarities between the suits, so my theory is a likely possibility. But even with this kryptonian battle armour, it would be a stalemate. But Batman isn't looking for a draw, he wants to win. So that brings us onto the next section of this article:
Batman is known for his huge and amazing arsenal. But when fighting someone like Superman, they're pretty useless. I mean, look at this (watch from 1:10 onwards):
So yeah, Batman's usual gadgets are completely useless against Superman, so he'll have to...improvise. Take a close look at this:
There is a Riddler easter egg here, but there are rumours that what Batman's got in his hands is a kryptonite-laced spear. This may be true or may not be. But it would be disappointing if it was true. Why? Because it takes a kryptonite ring to send the Man of Steel hunting for solar radiation. So imagine a kryptonite spear. Batman doesn't even need to stab him with it. But like most good CBM, they won't stick 100% with the source material. So Superman's immunity to kryptonite might be stronger than it is in the comic books. In TDKR, Batman's main objective in the fight with Superman was to distract him until Oliver Queen shot a kryptonite arrow at Superman. They could adapt that situation into the movie. Here are my thoughts on the fight: Batman tries to finish the fight quick by firing the spear from the Batmobile. But Superman takes it out with a punch. But, obviously, Batman has a backup plan. He dons the armour and fights Superman, until he manages to retrieve the the kryptonite spear (which apparently is given to him by Lex Luthor) and stabs Superman. Superman is bleeding out, Batman thinks he has won, but Lex reveals that he wanted Superman out of his way and he needed someone who could do it. Batman soon realises that Lex has manipulated him and that Superman was indeed a good person. So he takes the spear out and either Superman flies away to recharge, or Batman drives to the Batcave where he can use his technology to feed Superman solar radiation. Either way, they unite at the end and fight the muscle of the movie (read my other article on the synopsis of BvS if you want a good idea of who the muscle of the film might be). Sound good? It did to me. But this would be a bad idea if you want your audience to get the feeling that the fight was a draw. But that doesn't mean its not fun to speculate who might win. There is one other factor that might give Batman the upper hand.
Now, we know the fight will end in a way that makes it look like it was a tie. But if it were a fight of pure brawn, then even with the armour, Batman would lose. But if it were a mental, psychological and physical battle Batman would win. First of all, Bruce Wayne could tear Clark Kent apart. He could buy the Daily Planet and fire Clark Kent. Or he could release a tape of Clark Kent changing into Superman to the public. Bruce Wayne has way more power than Clark Kent. Bruce Wayne could turn the whole world against Clark Kent if he wanted to. So in that sense, Batman wins easily. But lets look at a physical fight. Like I mentioned before, Batman is clever and tactical, so he knows when he won't win a straight up fight. So he'll cheat. If it means he wins, then he'll cheat. I am sure this Batman has "the end justifies the means" mindset more than any other Batman before. So he'll use kryptonite, magic, red sun radiation or high pitched frequencies. Anything that can hurt Superman, he'll use. But even if you strip him of his tactical mind, he is still a very formidable opponent in hand-to-hand combat. He has mastered all the violent martial arts, so yeah, he's probably better or at least as good as Zod at fighting. Probably. So he'll use stuff like pressure points to disable the Man of Steel or other stuff that wouldn't involve a "full on" encounter. Never underestimate Batman. Not even for a second.
So what did you guys think? REMEMBER: THIS IS ALL PURELY MY SPECULATION!!! But be sure to share your ideas in the comments below.
