That’s right folks, it seems that the Paranormal Activity team will be joining forces with the guys behind VRWERX. The title is slated to be released in 2016 on all major virtual reality displays that include, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and Project Morphus. It seems that even movie studios want to jump in on the action, can’t say I blame them because the horror genre would seem perfect for this.

I’ve never been a big fan of the Paranormal Activity series because it’s been boring right from the start but I think that this could help it. There’s not many details on the game yet but we can imagine that you’ll be terrorised by a demon from Katie’s past, maybe? Who knows if the game will have anything to do with the movies or just be something that’s standalone, I’m willing to bet though that it’ll be connected to the movies to some degree at least. Russell Naftal who is Co-Managing partner of VRWERX says “Our goal is for the Paranormal Activity VR video game to not only be the scariest game you’ve ever played but to be the scariest experience you’ve ever had.”

If this turns out to be successful then it’s a guarantee that more studios will soon follow suite and be turning their movie franchises into video games for virtual reality, I personally can’t wait for Michael Bay’s Transformers experience; basically just explosions and Megan Fox running around all day. Virtual reality is exciting and I do think it provides the perfect experience for people but I don’t think we need to get carried away with this and start doing everything with it. Hollywood is always trying to chase the next big thing and virtual reality will be no different, soon we’ll be seeing everything in virtual reality.
