It's been 14 years since the original The Princess Diaries came out, and 11 years since the sequel Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement made it's way to theaters, but it appears that we may have another sequel coming, this news being reported just a few weeks after author Meg Cabot released her latest novel from the series were based on, Royal Wedding.
According to The Tracking Board, Disney has officially greenlit a third movie adaptation, to be produced by Deborah Chase who was behind the first two. Though I am a huge fan of Mia and Michael in the books, the last movie ended on Mia's coronation with a possible relationship with Nicholas, played by Chris Pine, a character created solely for the movie franchise.
Both Anne Hathaway and Chris Pine made their film debuts in the series, in the first and second movies respectively, though there is no word on whether or not they will reprise their roles that gave them their start in Hollywood.
As a fan of both the movies and the actors, I can only hope so.
Until then, I'll watch the originals and enjoy the book series that started it all.
