With Ghostbusters 3 set to begin production in Boston, Massachusetts this week, director Paul Feig definitely has some big shoes to fill for the third installment in the iconic franchise, however from what we can gather from Feig's most recent post on Twitter it seems like he's taking it all in his stride!
As any fan of the original two Ghostbusters films knows, the franchise has a long, and even intimate, relationship with slime, it seems fitting then that to celebrate filming beginning he should post a picture of himself literally getting his hands dirty with a container of slime! Check it out:
Awesome! It just wouldn't be a Ghostbusters film if there weren't some sort of slime involved, whether it be Slimer himself:
Or perhaps the ultra sensitive pink slime from the sequel (you're nothing but an unstable short-chained molecule!).
However, Feig literally oozing charm in his latest post isn't the only news we've had about the paranormal film, The Boston Herald has apparently gained some insight into what the film will be about:
[Kristen] Wiig and [Melissa] McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia University (Like the original, the story takes place in New York City, even though it’s being shot in Boston.) Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia.
Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.
I gotta say, it's a plot that sounds vaguely familiar, but I'm totally ready to sit back and enjoy the crap out of this film.
The Boston Herald also reports that while cameo appearances by original ghostbusters Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd are still unconfirmed, there will definitely be one familiar face returning in the form of the ghoulish Slimer! I can't wait to see that troublemaker again!
Ghostbusters will be released in cinemas on July 22nd, 2016.
