Tyra Banks has always spoken her mind and has never been the kind of woman to hide her true self. And if the following photograph does not prove this very fact, I don't know what else will.

Peeling away the layers of make-up and copious amount of hair products the star uses every day, the America's Next Top Model boss has courageously exposed her natural beauty by posting a make-up free selfie to her Instagram. In doing so, she revealed what a supermodel really looks like without any photoshopping, flattering filters or airbrushing, giving us a glimpse of honesty in an industry that is so focused on false appearances.

Alongside her almost unrecognisable face, she posted this caption, sharing her real self with her devoted fans:

You know how people say but you know there's a freakin' filter on their pic? Or maybe there's a smidge of retouching going on but they're lying and saying it's all raw & real? Well, this morn, I decided to give you a taste of the really real me. I wanted to smooth out my dark circles so badly!!! But I was like, "Naw, Ty. Show 'em the REAL you." I am. Raw. And there YOU are...looking at me, studying this picture. Maybe you're thinking, "Whoa, she looks ROUGH." And if you are, great! You deserve to see the REAL me. The REALLY real me.

Unafraid to expose her uneven skin tone, her blotchy skin and dark circles around her eyes, I salute Tyra for being so brave and showing the world what a real woman really looks like when she wakes up in the morning!

Considering she will almost certainly become fodder for scathing magazine articles after this, I congratulate her for helping to bring honesty to beauty.

Not only is this picture bound to make all of us feel a ton better about our own disheveled appearance in the early morning hours, but it also shows us that flaws can be beautiful, too. After all, that's what makes us who we are, right?

Good on you, Tyra!
