For fans of the first Kick-Ass movie who didn't love the second, or fans of the franchise in general, director Matthew Vaughn has heard your feedback, criticisms, and desires and has plans to respond accordingly. What does that mean exactly? A Hit Girl and Big Daddy prequel!
In an interview with Yahoo! the Kingsman director discussed his future plans for the Kick-Ass franchise:
We’re working on an idea for a prequel of how did Hit Girl and Big Daddy become Hit Girl and Big Daddy.
Now we're talking! Who wouldn't want to see more of these two?
He also discussed how he hopes they would renew the love fans had for the series and appease those who didn't love the second movie:
If we make that, hopefully that will be the sorbet for the people that didn’t like ‘Kick-Ass 2’ and then we can go off and make ‘Kick-Ass 3’.
I think we’ve got to do this prequel to regain the love that we had with ‘Kick-Ass’.
As is the case with all prequels, casting can be a bit tricky. Since Chloë Moretz is a fair bit older than she was when the franchise started, having her reprise this role might be out of the question.
Although we might miss out on Moretz, an awesome origins story is still very doable. Don't you want to see more of how she learned to be such a badass and do things like this?
Plus, the more of Nicolas Cage as Big Daddy we get to see, the better.
I seriously hope this awesome project idea actually comes to fruition! Hit Girl and Big Daddy are such badass characters, I'm dying to know more about them.
