It would appear that Matthew Vaughn is working on a Hit-Girl prequel of sorts to the original kickass film which will be based on Mark Miller’s graphic novels. Vaughn explained to Yahoo that he’s “not happily done with the franchise.” It would seem that not even Matthew Vaughn was happy with the second film, I enjoyed it myself but admittedly it was still missing his touch.

“We’re working on an idea for a prequel of how did Hit-Girl and Big Daddy became Hit-Girl and Big Daddy,” he said. “If we make that, hopefully that will be the sorbet for the people that didn’t like Kick-Ass 2 and then we can go off and make Kick-Ass 3. I think we got to do this prequel to regain the love that we had with Kick-Ass.”

It’ll be interesting to see how all of this plays out as the second film didn’t make as much as money as the first film. From what I’ve heard over the years, the studio doesn’t want to make a third film because the second didn’t perform well but maybe Vaughn will convince them; I’d love to see Vaughn come back to this franchise. I loved the first Kick-Ass and it’s one of the best comic book films, I enjoyed the second film as well but it was still lacking a lot of the action from the first film.

As much as I’d love to see another Kick-Ass sequel, I feel that the time for it has happened and that the studio would lose money from it; not many people would be interested other than the hardcore fans. The Hit-Girl prequel would certainly be interesting but it wouldn’t have Chole Grace Moretz, which would take away a lot from the character.

What say you guys though, do you want to see a Hit-Girl film?
