What an incredible year for Video Games. A few months back, 2015 felt like it was going to be a massive disappointment. We've had the likes of Uncharted 4, Quantum Break, [Tom Clancy's The Division](tag:2684169), and The Legend of Zelda Wii U to name a few - make the move to 2016. The year started off with the avergae Dying Light and the appalling [The Order: 1886](tag:2707754) - I was afraid the whole year would continue in a similar vein. But the industry came through for us time and time again.

Bloodborne was released in April to critical acclaim and it's a beautiful and challenging masterpiece from From Software. The Witcher 3 arrived last month to statements like "One of the best games of all time." And now, [Batman: Arkham Knight](tag:2683936) reviews are appearing online for PS4, and with several 10/10 review scores already; we have another game of the year contender. You'd think a Bethesda title - especially Fallout 4 - would have it easy for Game of the Year! But they have their work cut out for them it seems.

Game of the Year Contenders So Far: Bloodborne, Batman: Arkham Knight & The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Now, I may be getting ahead of myself by claiming that Fallout 4 will be a contender for Game of the Year - but then you look at its gameplay and you go "Oh yeah, that looks fucking incredible!" Seriously, you can build your own shelter IN GAME?! Have you seen the level of detail in the crafting system?! They've made the game work as an FPS with an updated VATS option (which isn't really an option - VATS is the only way to play)! Fallout 4 will be a Game of the Year contender, people - we don't have to worry about that!

But I must say, it'll be tough to beat what this year has released. As a massive fan of the Souls series, receiving [Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin](tag:2768294) on XBOX One and PS4 was pretty awesome this year, but being gifted a whole new universe that draws from this series with Bloodborne, was an even better surprise. Bloodborne is one of the best experiences I've ever had with a game and still, in my opinion, stands shoulders above CD Projekt RED's accomplishments with The Witcher 3!

But that's not to say that The Witcher 3 isn't an incredible game - far from it. What CD Projekt RED have accomplished with it is extraordinary. I've spent over 70 hours with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and I'm sure I'll revisit it in the future. It's kind of everything you could hope to receive from an open world game! I'm sure there are a lot more people who'll vote for The Witcher 3 over Bloodborne in terms of Game of the Year.

But now Batman has returned to make his presence felt. Rocksteady have released the final game in their Batman trilogy and seeing as I've only played an hour of it, I can't really comment on the game. That being said - it's wonderful. Though from what reviews are saying, with the tedious batmobile segments aside, Batman: Arkham Knight is everything you could want from Rocksteady and a batman experience. Bring it on!

Will Fallout 4 Enter the Game of the Year Contender List?

But where do your loyalties lie? Do you think Bethesda have a chance to stand up to these games with Fallout 4? Do you prefer Bloodborne over The Witcher 3 and are you excited to get your hands on Batman: Arkham Knight? Be sure to let us know which title would receive your vote for Game of the Year!
