Have you ever wondered what it would be like to see a crime drama/mystery in the merry Marvel universe? How about a show like 21 Jump Street or CSI featuring some of your favorite characters from the Avengers? Well, now we have it on Battleworld in this new Secret Wars crossover title that features a number of different THors trying to solve a murder mystery that could change the world of Doom forever.

Thors is a fun romp in a way that they try to be serious, but at the same time, they aren't trying to be serious. The comic is about a murder of 5 different women by some unknown assailant that leaves no clues, no DNA and no evidence and the police force of Battleworld must try and solve it before another person becomes the next victim. But, in being with Marvel, all the victims do have some similarity, and that is where the true mystery arrives. This is one of the highest profile creative pairings to be featured in the Secret Wars tie-ins, and both Aaron and Sprouse deliver. Thors #1 is a gritty, fun read if you dig shows like Law & Order, and if you are also a fan of Thor then there are tons of nods to the various iterations of Thor throughout. It's fun to look at all the different personalities of the Thors, and when you see who the "police chief" is, you may laugh out loud at how he acts. We have a talking frog in forensics, a talking tree in the force, and the trading of stories over cups of mead is enough to make you crack a smile. But, no Secret wars tie-in can be complete without the reference of God-doom and the cliffhanger that will make you want to return for the next issue. The last thing I expected when I cracked open Thors #1 was a tightly constructed police story, but after reading it, it makes all the sense in the Nine Realms. This turned out to be one of the better tie-ins of Secret wars and should be on anyones pull list. I give this book a 8 out of 10.
