After Thor: The Dark World was met with mixed reviews, Marvel is looking to bring it all back to the man who first brought Thor into the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in 2011.

Not only did director Kenneth Branagh (Cinderella, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit) bring us to Asgard and made a Norse God more relatable to us mere mortals, he also brought Tom Hiddleston as Loki into our lives. Given his track record, I think giving Branagh a second go at the characters could really pay off for [Thor: Ragnarok](tag:956858).

While this is far from confirmed, there a few building blocks to suggest that this is certainly a possibility. Between Marvel and Branagh, there definitely seems to be some mutual interest. If he could bring back more gems like this, I'd be happy:

When promoting his movie Cinderella earlier this year, Branagh talked to Den of Geek on whether he would consider returning to the MCU to work with Kevin Feige, he definitely seemed open to the possibility:

It was a really sort of pivotal moment to me doing Thor and I like them. I like Kevin very much. You know, you never say never. I think I couldn’t begin to speak for the complications of their interweaving of this ever-expanding universe, which are totally fascinating to behold.
But I think they’re masters of their own destiny. They know what they want and we all got on terribly well, so I’m sure if they felt there was a spot for me somewhere in there they’d give me a shout. And of course I’d listen, but it’s not something I’m actively seeking or looking for, although I am actively enjoying and seeking out the movies every time they come out. So I’m definitely a fan of the world.

He also talked to The Hollywood Reporter a few months ago where he sounded even more enthused about the possibility of standing at the helm of another Marvel project:

I’m pleased to say that I continue to have good relationships with all my Marvel family. It’s a people game the movie game, and although these films are big articulated lorries, they still have to be driven by real people. I fondly remember good times working on Thor. So you always look to repeat that kind of thing, and if it happened again, I’d be delighted.

Delighted, eh? I don't know about you, but that would delight me, too! With Branagh on board, now it's just up to Marvel. Now, here's where it's starting to come together. According to El Mayimbe of Heroic Hollywood, Marvel has matched Branagh's interest.

On the Marvel Movie News Live podcast, El Mayimbe said:

I was hearing that Marvel wanted Kenneth Branagh back for Thor 3. But, he just got an offer to direct Murder On The Orient Express at Fox. So, I don't know if it is going to happen or not. They're thinking about bringing him back into the fold.

Although it's just a rumor at the moment, I think it's nice thought. If they don't end up going with Branagh, it could be a great chance to give someone new a shot at joining the Marvel family.

Thor: Ragnarok is set to be released on July 28, 2017
