The cast for the fifth season of American Horror Story already has a cast stacked to the brim with talent. Between returning actors Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Matt Bomer, Finn Wittrock, Wes Bently, and Denis O'Hare, to new guests like Max Greenfield and Lady Gaga, American Horror Story: Hotel is already getting people excited.

But what is the one thing that could make fans even more thrilled? The return of the AHS queen, Jessica Lange, of course!

After months of stating that she would not be returning for another season of Ryan Murphy's creepy television spectacular, Jessica Lange once again opens up to the possibility of returning for another season of American Horror Story.

In an interview with The Wrap, Lange stated:

"If Ryan came to me and said, ‘Would you want to do a small character for a couple episodes?’ I would absolutely say yes if I liked it. This was a great collaboration, so I would love to keep working with him."

Although it sounds like Lange has no desire to return as a principle character, just knowing she might be on board for future projects is enough to keep me hopeful of her return. Given Ryan Murphy's ability to create strong, dynamic characters fit for Lange's talents, I think (or at least hope) that her return is highly possible.

She went on to praise Murphy's characters and how playing Constance, Sister Jude, Fiona Goode, and, most recently, Elsa Mars complimented her acting style.

"There was a thread through all four of those characters, which is a kind of desperation, a profound disappointment in life.
As on-edge or neurasthenic as they appear to be, they have a spine of steel. It’s exactly the kind of complexity in a character that I love, that it appears to be one thing and it’s something else."

Murphy responded to Lange's comments to Deadline saying:

"They feel that they have a choice to a certain degree and that's certainly how I always approached Jessica every season; I would say, 'Here's the role, here's the theme; are you in, do you want to do it?' and I was lucky enough that she said yeah.
I think if I came up with something extraordinary for her, if I could come up with a great character, she's all about that, and she's told me that, if you have something great after I sort of get my rest then let's keep talking, so I'll do that."

We're rooting for you, Ryan Murphy! Let's bring Lange back, even if for a cameo or an impromptu song and dance number. I'm not picky.

American Horror Story: Hotel will air on FX in October.
