Graphic artist Robert Ball has been doing artistic interpretations of each episode of Game of Thrones for every one of the HBO series 5 seasons. He calls the series "Beautiful Death" and that is indeed what they are.

The posters are released just shortly before each episode airs. Still, they are best viewed as an assemblage. With the series finale airing a week's back, Season 5 is now complete and so is Robert Ball's work. At least for this year.

Ball captures the contrasting moods and feelings of the series with a skillful balancing of cool and dark colors and juxtaposition of visual proportions. Big backgrounds or big characters are balanced with the little shadows, lights and images that are this week's "Beautiful Death."

The fury of the violence never overwhelms the poignancy of the death or deaths being rendered. Like every episode of Game of Thrones everything is balanced on the knife blade between revenge and sorrow.

Robert Ball lives in London, England.

You can see more of his art at his Beautiful Death website.
