Well, this is awkward.

After all they had been through over the years, it appears that Ian Somerhalder has definitively decided to publicly cut even more ties with ex-girlfriend turned ex-co-star, Nina Dobrev. In what, to me, appears to be quite an immature way to make a point. Or, perhaps jealousy has simply gotten the better of him.

Either way, Ian has reportedly unfollowed Nina on Twitter!

The news comes as a surprise to fans as the two stars have said over and over that there isn't any bad blood between them. They even claim to have remained friends post-breakup.

In a previous interview, Nina even said that she wished her ex-boyfriend all the best with his new wife Nikki Reed and claimed that she cared deeply for him still, but in a very platonic way. She revealed:

"I've said this before, that we didn't break up because anything bad happened or because there wasn't love or friendship. [...] I love him and the friendship is still strong and I think he's great and I care about him. And that didn't change. Yes, we're professional and that's fine. We were friends long before we dated and we still are now."

So, why is Ian suddenly unfollowing Nina on Twitter?

Such a move naturally leads many of us to wonder if he's not actually completely over her. Could it be that he is hurt by the fact that Nina is dating Austin Stowell?

Although the two love birds haven't been confirmed to be officially dating, they have been seen getting pretty cozy over the last few weeks. So, could Ian be getting a serious case of the green-eyed monster, despite being newly married?

A longterm relationship is very hard to get over and perhaps, Ian is only now realizing how much he misses her. Seeing her with another man must be difficult, but surely he has moved on with Nikki now?

Just when we thought all the drama was over, it seems that trouble continues to brew. Let's watch this space.
