With Andrew Garfield, Dylan O'Brien, and Asa Butterfield all out of the mix to play the next cinematic version of Peter Parker, fans of the web-slinger have been wondering who will don the iconic suit for months. Today, we finally got our answer!

So who will follow in the footsteps of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield and go on to play Sony-Marvel's new Spider-Man in his own standalone film? 19-year-old English actor and dancer, Tom Holland.

While Holland might not be the most well-known actor on Sony-Marvel's list, he's definitely an up-and-comer in the entertainment industry. In 2012 he starred in The Impossible alongside Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor and he just finished filming In the Heart of the Sea with The Avengers' Chris Hemsworth.

According to Marvel, Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal's extensive search led them to Holland based on his existing body of work and a series of screen tests.

For Spidey himself, we saw many terrific young actors, but Tom’s screen tests were special. All in all, we are off to a roaring start.

If Tom Holland's meteoric rise to fame wasn't enough to prove he could play Spider-Man, his Instagram suggests he blew them away in the screen tests with his acrobatic ability to swing from a web. Check out a few of his videos below and be amazed:

Look at that form!

Those kind of hops are perfect for escaping your enemies, or casually kicking them in the face. Whatever works!

In case anyone wants to challenge Peter at a little soccer, maybe they should think again.

Or if a light hike seems too boring, have Tom help jazz things up a bit.

Not even regular old trees are safe from his flipping abilities.

And an older one from a few months ago...

Just like Peter Parker, he's not perfect.

Along with being one of the more athletically inclined candidates - at least, as far as I know - Holland also seems to have the cute, goofy, and slightly nerdy thing down.

We've all had those days, Tom.

Clearly Tom had more than enough skill and adorkable personality to woo Sony and Marvel. According to Amy Pascal, the studios have high hopes that Holland is perfect to play Peter Parker.

Sony, Marvel, Kevin and I all knew that for Peter Parker, we had to find a vibrant, talented young actor capable of embodying one of the most well-known characters in the world. With Tom, we’ve found the perfect actor to bring Spider-Man’s story into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel also announced that they had found their director, Jon Watts (Clown, Cop Car). Marvel has stated that they're excited for the new vision they believe Watts will bring to the already iconic storyline:

As with James Gunn, Joss Whedon, and the Russo brothers, we love finding new and exciting voices to bring these characters to life. We spent a lot of time with Jon and find his take and work inspiring.

I don't know about you guys, but this team is already starting to shape up pretty nicely! Plus, now that Spidey is back in Marvel's hands, I have faith that whoever they bring on will be the right choice.

The next installment of the Spider-Man franchise will swing into theaters on July 28, 2017
