According to CBS news, a small plane reportedly registered to world renowned composer James Horner was destroyed in a fiery crash just outside of Santa Barbara on Monday morning. The firefighters who arrived on scene found merely debris due to the fire incinerating most of the plane, but they did discover that the pilot of the plane had died in the crash.
The Crash Scene
The 2-seater S312 Tucano MK1 went down at 9:30 a.m. Monday morning carrying only the pilot. Initially the pilot remained unidentified but has now officially been confirmed by assistant Sylvia Patrycja to be beloved Oscar winner James Horner.
No one had heard from Horner since the crash occurred, but Patrycja confirmed the tragedy on a personal Facebook post.
While the incident is unspeakably heart wrenching, the composer brought joy to millions of movie goers with his moving compositions.
"My job is to make sure at every turn of the film it’s something the audience can feel with their heart. When we lose a character, when somebody wins, when somebody loses, when someone disappears — at all times I’m keeping track, constantly, of what the heart is supposed to be feeling. That is my primary role."
Mr. Horner's contribution to the cinematic world cannot be described in mere words, and he will undoubtedly be sorely missed. Nevertheless, fans and family will be able to enjoy his legendary work one last time in the upcoming films Southpaw, Wolf Totem, and The 33.
