A lot of big name actors have starred or been in a horror movie sometime in their career. Here's a list of actors and actresses that you can not only watch in a horror film, but you get to see them get killed off as well.
1. Jack Black (I Still Know What You Did Last Summer; 1998)
It might be a bit of a stretch calling Jack Black a Hollywood A-Lister, but regardless of my opinion of him he is still very well known and liked. Jack Black played Titus, who was a pot-selling, dreadlock having hippie and wasn’t even credited. He also had one of those “If you blink, you’ll miss it” deaths in this movie, but he still gets killed.
2. Henry Cavill (Hellraiser: Hellworld; 2005)
Henry Cavill, who most people know as Superman, had a role in one of the many unnecessary Hellraiser sequels. He plays Mike, who is a sex addict and is also addicted to the online Hellraiser game. Mike gets turned into a pseudo cenobite by the Chatterer and has a gaping hole in his chest and his face stitched together. In reality though, the cenobites were all an illusion from the drugs and Mike actually died from fear.
3. Keira Knightley (The Hole; 2001)
This movie is not as well known as the rest of the movies, but it features a young fifteen-year-old Keira Knightley before she was famous. Technically Keira wasn’t killed in the movie, but she did end up dead due to her character Frankie’s bulimia. Aside from the fact that she dies in the movie, her mother also agreed on letting her do a topless scene although she was still underage.
4. Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Halloween H20; 1998)
Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been in the Hollywood scene since he was a young child. JGL has always been big on the indie scene, but just recently started doing big budget pictures. In Halloween H20, he plays Jimmy who doesn't even make it 15 minutes into the film before he dies. JGL dies by getting an Ice Skate to the face, which made it to my list of Michael Myer's top kills.
5. Owen Wilson (Anaconda; 1997/The Haunting; 1999)
Owen Wilson is one of Hollywood’s funny guys, known primarily for his roles in a handful of comedies. Before he was one of the go to guys for funny, he died in a couple horror movies. First he died in Anaconda where he was eaten by you guessed it, an anaconda. Then he died in The Haunting, where he got his head taken off by the lion's head in the fireplace.
6. Kevin Bacon (Friday the 13th; 1980)
Kevin Bacon had one of his first movie roles in the very first Friday the 13th playing one of the camp counselors named Jack. Disobeying the number one rule of all horror films, Bacon’s character has sex with his girlfriend right before getting an arrow stabbed through his throat. Since it’s the first of the franchise, Bacon didn’t even get to be killed by the iconic Jason, but by his vengeful mother.
7. Drew Barrymore (Scream; 1996)
I feel like this is the most obvious on the list, but also one of the most forgotten or overlooked. Drew Barrymore plays Casey, who is the first to fall victim to Ghostface. Drew Barrymore also wasn’t undiscovered before this, she was already established in Hollywood and was originally supposed to play Sidney Prescott but thought by taking the role of Casey it would throw the audience off and make them think anything could happen.
8. Jared Leto (American Psycho; 2000)
Jared Leto has worked his way up in Hollywood, starting out with smaller roles and having his band 30 Seconds to Mars, to becoming an Oscar winner and playing The Joker in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie. In American Psycho, Leto plays Paul Allen, a coworker of Christian Bale’s character Patrick Bateman. In the movie they go out to dinner and head back to Patrick’s house where Leto’s character Paul gets killed by an ax.
9. George Clooney (Return to Horror High; 1987)
Before Clooney played Ace on ER or was considered one of Hollywood’s hottest bachelors, he had a very small role in a very bad horror movie. Clooney plays a cop in this movie which is another slasher/serial killer movie, just not as good or well known as the rest. Clooney doesn’t make it very far at all dying within the first 20 minutes or so, but regardless of how small his role was in this movie he is still one of Hollywood’s most recognizable A-Listers.
10. Johnny Depp (A Nightmare on Elm St.; 1984)
Johnny Depp is one of the biggest names in Hollywood, and is to be returning as what could be considered his most famous role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the upcoming Pirates movie. Although being extremely famous now, this movie is what gave Johnny Depp his big screen debut. He plays Glen, Nancy’s boyfriend, who gets sucked into his bed while watching television. It is unknown how Glen actually died, but loads of blood came bursting out of his bed onto the ceiling.
