It was with great sadness that we learned that Andrew Garfield would be one of the biggest losers in the brand new deal between Marvel Studios and Sony. As the lead in the Amazing Spider-Man franchise, the young actor was mercilessly dropped when the two companies agreed to move forward with a fresh face in the main role.

And while I'm sure the two production companies can boldly justify their reasons for the decision, it is still a great shame to have to say goodbye to Andrew. After all, in my opinion, he was one of the best elements in the movies and really put his own innovative twist on Peter Parker.

As a tribute, let's take a look at 8 times when Garfield really showed himself to be the perfect Spider-Man:

1. He brought humor to the role like no other

Whereas past Spider-Mans lacked in the humor department (let's be honest - Tobey Maguire was a bit of a wet blanket!), Garfield really brought back Peter's quirky and awkward nature. Just take a look at this:

"I was cleaning the chimney." Brilliant.

2. His pairing with Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy melts the heart

They share a phenomenal chemistry so I doubt any of us are surprised they are dating in real life.

Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst simply do not compare.

3. He absolutely loves Spider-Man

So much so, that he brought a picture of himself dressed as the superhero as a 4-year-old to the audition. He also admits to having burst into tears when he put the costume on for the very first time.

Not only does he take his role seriously, but it clearly means something much, much more to him that a hefty pay-check an a clever career move.

4. He plays the role of a true teenager

He's moody, arrogant and selfish at times because ultimately, that's how we all were when those hormones were kicking in! Just look at him talking back with attitude in this scene:

5. Garfield oozes charisma

While there is a certain spark missing from Tobey Maguire's performance, Garfield seems to fill that void. He is awkwardly funny and his personality does not hold back, yet his performances also remain natural and sincere.

6. He is fantastic in those high-action fight scenes

It's almost like he fits seamlessly into the role of a super-hero. He's agile, fast and decisive and has a bounce to his step that simply cannot be competed with. And I'm not surprised - apparently, Andrew studied the way that spiders move before taking on the role.

Just take a look at him coming head-to-head with the Lizard in the clip above!

7. He makes countless charity appearances

As a hero and role-model to millions of kids worldwide, Andrew really steps up his game when carrying out the great responsibility that his character demands.

All in all, in the run up to his movie premieres, it seemed that Andrew spent more time in his superhero costume off-screen working with kids, than actually in his role on-screen!

8. Andrew is the sassiest Spider-Man of them all

Oh yes, this Spidey is sassy to the max and a lot of this has to do with Garfield's attitude. For instance, the scene where he's threatened with a knife is deliciously absurd and super fun to watch - the best part being that he defeats his opponent not with his fighting skills, but with his SASS!

Peter Parker would be proud.
