Lets assume Warner Brothers is pulling a multi-phase cinematic universe out of a hat and following the conclusion of Green Lantern in 2020 will continue to expand their universe into even more Justice League films. Considering the first two of the justice league movies look to be a continuation of one big story arc the room to add additional characters out of the main 7 (or 8 depending on the multi-lantern theories). So, we come across "Phase 2" of the shared DC cinematic universe and are craving additional bodies of DC's fabled heroes to join the fold, just who would I pick.
5. Red Tornado
One of the more interesting characters in the DC comics universe, the Red Tornado is an android created by T.O. Morrow. Red Tornado became increasingly popular following the short-lived success of 'Young Justice'. Red Tornado would have a impactful screen presence as his power-set includes air and wind formation, superhuman strength, physical-resistance, and speed. This would make for some very interesting special effects that if pulled off correctly could be quite spectacular.
4. The Question
Another character receiving much love from a television series, The Question is an investigative journalist who is extremely paranoid (for the right reasons). He would not be on the league for his physical prowess (although he is a decent fighter) but more for his ability to uncover sinister conspiracies that could shoot the cinematic universe into it's next wave of story-arcs centering around government conspiracies (hopefully).
3. Lex Luthor
I know what you're thinking. What the F#%&? He's an evil, crazy often sarcastic man making him a perfect fit for the justice league. In DC's New 52 relaunch, Lex Luthor framed Batman to force his way into the league. How did he frame him? He found out his secret identity then threatened to reveal it if not let on the team. Of course, Batman only let him on, so he could keep an eye on him. Yes, he is useful as a villain, but imagine the tense chemistry of watching Lex and Superman working side by side. Often doing good for the league, it could set up for character rivalries and Lex could do good for a couple movies just to reveal that he has been attempting to destroy the League from the inside. Plus I want to see a Amazo virus movie.
2. Dr. Fate
The helmet of Nabu. Kent Nelson stumbled upon it with his father whom died from a poisonous gas released in the chamber containing the helmet. Nabu feeling bad for Kent trains him in wizardry and gives him a helmet, amulet, and cloak. While he could be conceived as a rip-off of Doctor Strange. The person whom wears the helmet becomes Nabu and just tags along for the ride. Whom is actually in control the helmet or the wearer could create some interestingly tense moments of frustration on screen as the wearer may attempt to help innocent civilians and Nabu may sought after the villain. One of my favorite characters from DC's animated universe I would love to see him fleshed out on the big screen with his interesting set of powers.
1. Martian Manhunter
This is what everyone wants to see. So, why not just give it to us. The martian, J'onn J'onzz, is one of the most powerful beings in the universe. Describe by Batman, as a combination between himself and Superman, the Martian Manhunter is a incredibly scary opponent luckily he's as soft as a teddy bear. Hailing from the peaceful planet of Mars (despite it being destroyed by a virtual holocaust by the white martians), the martian was unwarrantedly stolen from his home planet then 'traveled through time?' to Earth where Mars was no longer home to any live martians and his only way of getting home died in his arms from shock. So, with no way of getting home he decided to become a detective (batman?) and fight crime. With powers resembling Superman's, he also has the ability to shape-shift, change densities, and communicate telepathically. He would make for a excellent watch tower leader for the Justice League similar to the animated show.
