From clowns to deranged army recruits, movies have a way of giving us 2 hours of jumping, peeing our pants, fingernail-marks-in-your-arms goodness, only to have us live the next 30 years with one single image in our head from the movie. That one image, just by looking at it, can make us click the X on the internet window quicker than pea soup.

Here are 9 I've always felt are the most chilling:

9. Bilbo Baggins:

It was just a brief glimpse, but he really wanted his precious!

8. The Ring girl, Samara Morgan

The Ring was one of the movies that made me start not watching so many demon possessing/ghost haunting movies. Nothing about it seemed too real, but the creepy was strong in this one, and I never really was able to hold still through another super-freaky movie again.

7. The Exorcist (Regan Macneil)

Thaaaat's disturbing.

6. The Exorcist (Subway Demon)

The freakiest .00005 seconds of movie history!

5. The Shining (or The Shinning, if you're a redheaded scottish janitor from The Simpsons)

Jack's face is funny, in a way, but nothing you'd laugh at if you saw him at... or in... your front door.

4. Full Metal Jacket

This dude could pull off the "I'm in your closet wearing your underwear eating your cat" look pretty well...

3. Dead Birds Scary Thing

I watched this movie for 2 reasons: E.T.'s Elliott, and it had scary ghost things. It actually turned out to be a pretty good movie, but this thing is forever burned into my mind, much like this dead girl...

2. The Ring closet girl

...who probably doesn't like pancakes anymore :(

Which leaves us with #1!

1. Pennywise, DUH!

Because we all either know someone, or are that person, who is deathly afraid of clowns, and will always will be!

Did I leave any out? Let me know in the comments... if not, well, sweet dreams!
