The film may have been released 20 years ago, the TV show may have ended in 1999, but now cult classic Clueless is going for the trifecta and will receive the musical treatment! That's right, break in your purple clogs because director Amy Heckerling has confirmed that her beloved teen comedy is being adapted for Broadway!

Speaking to ET, Heckerling said “I’ve written the, what they call the book and it’s a jukebox musical.” In addition to this, she confirmed that Kristin Hanggi will direct the show. Hanggi is best known for directing Rock of Ages which ran on Broadway from 2009 until 2015. Dodger Theatricals will produce the musical, having produced Jersey Boys, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and Into the Woods in the past. With a superstar team like that, it seems like the Clueless musical adaptation could be destined for amazing things, much like the musical adaptation of Legally Blonde which was nominated for 7 Tony Awards over the course of its run.

Details such as the music that we can expect to hear in the show was kept under wraps by Heckerling, though fans of the movie will obviously be hoping that there is some sort of revival of Coolio's "Rollin' With My Homies" as well as Jill Sobule's "Supermodel."

We also remain clueless (sorry, had to do it) on who will take up the roles of Cher, Dionne and Tai who were played by Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash and the late Brittany Murphy in the original movie. Heckerling admitted that casting is going to be "the main problem." I have the utmost faith that they will find a fantastic new generation of actors willing and able to take up the roles, even if they do need a makeover to fit the part (which is totally fine because everyone knows a makeover is Cher's main thrill in life).
