As a big Steve McQueen fan, I watched ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE simply because it was the only McQueen movie I hadn't seen. The movie was pulled from distribution soon after its completion in 1978. Needless to say, I was expecting a turkey-- featuring an old, dying, bearded and rumpled McQueen walking through an ego-driven swan song. Yes, parts of the film were poorly staged and shot--like a stage play. However, by the final curtain I realized that it's one of McQueen's best performances in one of his best movies.
