Looking at GTA V and its glorious GTA Online component, there are so many things that we love (and hate) about Rockstar's creation. But there are two things about it in particular that makes us lament what Red Dead Redemption could have been. Number one, is that it never arrived on PC - just think of the mods! And number two, is that its online component could have been so much better.

Red Dead Redemption 2 certainly had some interesting ideas and decent attempts at new multiplayer modes, but in comparison to Rockstar's latest online achievement, it doesn't come close. I for one was really disappointed by Red Dead's options in multiplayer and I seriously hope that we can be granted a Red Dead Online to compete with GTA Online for Red Dead Redemption 2.

What Does Red Dead Redemption 2 Need in Red Dead Online?

Taking GTA Online as a framework for Red Dead Online, what kind of improvements need to be made and which modes could be easily transferrable? We all want hackers to be seriously restricted, that's a given! But the craziness of GTA Online, such as its insane driving courses that take place in the sky, or its battles atop a skyscraper with dune buggies, might not really fit into the world of Red Dead Redemption 2. Rockstar like to be consistent with their worlds, and GTA has always invited insane content.

Therefore we'll be limited in some regards to modes such as these:

  • Horse racing.
  • Various deathmatch-type multiplayer shootouts.
  • Quickdraw battles.
  • Free roaming.

There are plenty of additional options that Rockstar could include, but these are kind of the standard inclusions we can expect with Red Dead Redemption 2. But what do we really want and need for Red Dead Online? We could see Red Dead Redemption 2 completely alter its setting - maybe even to Japan! So perhaps Rockstar will even move the game forward in time to include automobiles, but I really hope they don't. But samurai swords is something I'll never say no to!

What Do You Want From Multiplayer on the Release Date of Red Dead Redemption 2?

What I'd love to see Rockstar include is a more dynamic fighting system, both in GTA 6 and Red Dead Redemption 2. For example, The Witcher 3 has a fantastic system for engaging in fist fights. If we could have an online arena with fist fights and championships, I'd love to see Rockstar develop some ideas for an improved combat system. It may seem trivial, but GTA V requires you to have unarmed fights in its campaign and they're pretty awful. It would add an extra layer to Rockstar's open world.

But what do you want from Red Dead Redemption 2 and what do you think of the previous game's multiplayer component? Is there a dream mode you'd like to see arrive in Red Dead Online? If so, be sure to let us know in the comments below!
