I love learning valuable ways to train especially if certain pieces of equipment allow me to use my imagination. In this case it's one of the coolest training tools in the world and that's using a real life Thor Hammer. We've seen the movies, read the comics and have wondered what it would be like to hold Mjolnir in your hands. I'm not talking about those ditsy little comic con hammers that weigh less than a pound made of cardboard and a stick, those are great for things like that or Halloween but i'm talking full on solid steel with a near 2 inch thick handle weighing around 11-50/60 lbs of pure thundering power as if it was made for the Norse God himself.
There's always been a sense of having a super power from one of your favorite heroes whether it's healing powers like Wolverine, the ability to fly like Superman, speed like the Flash or Quicksilver hell even maybe teleport like Nightcrawler; everyone wants to have at least one super power whether they admit it or not. It's in our DNA to feel as if we have extraordinary abilities. For me it's pure strength when it comes to superpowers. Thor's Hammer in this case is one of the very few rare tools that actually builds strength and power in your entire body. You can do swings, wrist curl variations, hitting a tire (my personal favorite) or even in an extremely rare circumstances flipping and catching it.
It's not everyday you have a tool that's being made that not only resembles one of the most powerful weapons in Comic Book Folklore/Mythology, but can be used to build a mighty physique and have the strength to go with it. I have literally done thousands of reps using a Hammer weighing roughly 13 pounds striking the tire and totaling the weight lifted/moved ranges 6-10 tons. When you can achieve that level of strength & endurance you have a power very few have ever experienced. Sledgehammer Training is very efficient and gives you that working man's strength while developing a grip that nobody would want to shake hands with. As a fan of sledgehammers, it's amazing the type of physical and mental properties it induces when you go out and just take care of business.
I have even suggested to a friend of mine named Ryan Pitts (the one man working crew that builds custom grip strength equipment including sledgehammers) at Strongergrip.com that he can build a replica of the mighty Stormbreaker hammer used by the mighty warrior Beta Ray Bill. The two most powerful weapons of the Marvel Universe held in your hands and being used in ways most would be afraid to attempt. It's not about who can lift them, it's about how they use them and what strength they can possess. These special hammers can also be filled with lead/steel shot to increase the weight for a more challenging workout. They may not seem like much weight at first but believe me they're brutal yet fun and exciting to use.
I'm actually fond of the word nerd, geek or whatever you want to call it because I see it as a positive entity that makes us unique and that we have a high interest in something certain people just don't understand. I'am a full on nerd when it comes to movies, video games and most importantly fitness & Strength Training. Most people look at a nerd who has glasses, pimples, zits or having a fascination with certain things in our culture like Science, Math, Comic Books, Movies or anything Anime/Sci-Fi/Board Games related. I'm a geek of strength and I don't think anyone with a sense of brain power would want to mess with a guy that can crush the average person's hand if he wanted to and poke fun at him. Being a geek isn't a negative thing, it's a gift and if you love certain aspects of what is considered a geek, embrace it. Hell, it can make you incredibly strong along with being very knowledgeable.
Feeling the power of Thunder? Grab a Thor Hammer today and gain strength very few have ever experienced. Let Mr. Pitts know who sent you. You can even become stronger than pretty boy Chris Hemsworth himself. Hit it up and feel that lightning strike the hammer and feel the surge of superhuman strength coursing through your veins as the souls of Valhalla embody their spirits in your blood.
