Rashida Jones stars as Los Angeles Police Department detective, Angie Tribeca in the new comedy series created by Steve and Nancy Carell.
The show’s ten-episode first season kicks off on cable network, TBS, this fall (date and time TBA).
Angie Tribeca, the show, is a police procedural satire, in the vein of similar productions such as The Naked Gun and the forty-one episode series, Sledge Hammer.
The show revolves around L.A.P.D. detective Angie Tribeca, a veteran of the Really Heinous Crimes Unit.
Series stars and guest stars include: Gary Cole, Lisa Kudrow, Alfred Molina and Hayes MacArthur. James Franco, Adam Scott and Bill Murray are also expected to appear as guests.
Rashida Jones’ parents, Peggy Lipton and Quincy Jones, play Angie Tribeca’s mother and father.
The show featured earlier this year at the SXSW Film Festival earlier this year to an enthusiastic response.
In a Q & A panel, co-creator Steve Carell told the audience, “We just wanted something that was irreverent and silly and made us laugh.”
The show’s pilot is reportedly being retooled.
Rashida Jones recently filmed the upcoming animated feature, B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations. She also recently co-starred in the upcoming romance dramedy, Matters of the Heart, expected to be released later this year.
Also, while Rashida Jones is largely noted for her recurring role in Parks and Recreation, she has a prior work connection with Steve and Nancy Carell through her appearing in The Office.
