There could be an "uh-oh" for Naughty Dog, but a huge "F**K YES, FINALLY" moment for us on the horizon after legendary voice actor Nolan North casually revealed the existence of a sequel to 2013's PS3 epic The Last of Us.
In conversation during a panel at Metrocon this month, North let the cordycep infected cat out of the poorly sealed bag after an attendee enquired as to whether he'd be working on any more stuff with Naughty Dog (seemingly after Uncharted 4):
For now I know they're doing Last of Us 2, but my character in Last of Us kind of met an untimely demise.
Here's the reveal from the man himself:
Unfortunately, that's all the information we have on that matter, because North was cut off after making that immense statement by a different attendee who claimed to have never played the game! I know, right?!
North played David in TLOU, with fellow superstar voice actor Troy Baker who, hat tip to Polygon for the find, who feigned ignorance/legitimately has no idea over the existence of a sequel:
Okay, so I'm... And by the way I know nothing," he said. "I don't know if we're gonna do another one or not. If we do, then I trust Neil [Druckmann, creative director] and Bruce [Straley, game director] and everyone at Naughty Dog to tell a story that needs to be told.
And here's Baker sharing his opinion:
So, it seems as if there's a very outside yet huge chance that we'll be heading back into the dilapidated US for another heartbreaking tale of loss and survival at... some point in the near future in The Last of Us 2!
I'm still surprised that the crowd didn't lose their minds over North's reveal!
