Who doesn’t love Supernatural? The Road So Far on brothers Dean and Sam Winchester's journey to rid the world of demons, vampires, and other things that go bump in the night hasn’t been an easy one. For the past ten seasons, stunningly rugged actors Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles have brought action, comedy, drama, and sacrifice to our living rooms.

Coincidentally on my way to Vegas in March, I happened to find out there was a Supernatural convention at the Rio Hotel the day of my arrival. Talk about fate: I bought tickets right away. I went in eager to see my favorite characters in the flesh, but came out with a lot more respect and knowledge on the real life actors that have worked on the set of Supernatural for the past decade.

As a Salute to Supernatural, I give you eleven things I learned about the cast…

1) Jeffrey Dean Morgan had never been to a Supernatural convention….

John Winchester, father of Sam and Dean, is played by legendary actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan (you might recognize him from P.S. I Love You or Red Dawn). VegasCon was Morgan’s first appearance at a convention and he was not disappointed! He was adorably awkward at first, but his boys helped him through it.

2) Misha Collins and Jensen Ackles really do have a close relationship…

There's a running joke on Supernatural that Castiel and Dean have are strangely close.

Sam: So what, you like him better, or something?

Castiel: Dean and I do share a more profound bond. I wasn't going to mention it.

A fan created a photograph album for Jensen’s wife, since it was her birthday. A few of us signed it, but Misha’s note (left) was the best.

3) Jensen Ackles has the voice on an angel (sorry, Castiel)

While I disappointingly did not get to witness or hear him myself, it was all anyone was talking about for the next couple of days. He sang “Sister Christian” along with Gabriel aka The Trickster (played by Richard Speight Jr.) and Robert Benedict in his band Louden Swain. Thankfully, someone recorded it.

4) Rob Benedict has a band?!

Yep, and they couldn’t help themselves from turning the Q&A into a karaoke session. Robert Benedict is the “author” of the Supernatural book series in the show, and essentially, the narrator. His band, Louden Swain, provided the song "World's Collide" in the episode in 2012 titled, The Slice Girls.

5) Castiel the new Elvis?

On the Vegas strip, Misha Collins, aka Castiel the Angel, hooked up with a couple Elvis impersonators. Do you think he has what it takes?

6) Jared Padalecki suffers from depression.

Of course, this wasn’t discussed in a lot of detail, but he did mention the commitment to the show was hard on him and his new family (his wife, Genevieve Cortese, played the demon Ruby during the show's fourth season). In fact, Jared set up a campaign on represent.com selling apparel that says, “Always Keep Fighting.” The proceeds go to the To Write Love On Her Arms foundation, which helps people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide.

7) Speaking on fundraising, did you know Misha Collins is helping raise money for a school in Nicaragua?

Randomacts.org:

“It’s our mission to conquer the world one random act of kindness at a time. We are here to inspire acts of kindness around the world both big and small. We provide a vast network of caring people with the encouragement and support they need to change lives for the better.”

In 2012 they raised money for a school bus, and now Misha and Random Acts are setting their sights higher- for a Center for Human Development which will serve as a beautiful campus for the Free High School.

8) Jeffrey Dean Morgan absolutely adores his children.

Morgan got a little emotional when explaining the impact his children have made on his life. This video says it all!

9) Jensen Ackles would like to be in the film adaptation of the book Final Rounds

Being an amazing actor and an expert golfer, Jensen said he would love to play the role of James Dodson, who along with his father, sets off on the golf journey of their dreams to play the most famous courses in the world after his father learns he only has two months to live.

He's also an amazing hula-hooper!

10) Mark Sheppard is a member

He stayed in the posh, Cosmopolitan, on the strip. Only the best for the King of Hell, right?

11) Misha is just as adorable in person

Just look at him!
