This Saturday is July 4th, which is of course, Independence Day. It's America's most patriotic holiday and in the film, Independence Day, it takes on a whole new meaning. Of course, in the film, rather than Americans gaining their independence from the Brits, we have a more global focus, with humans gaining their independence from an alien species that is attacking.
President Whitmore, played by Bill Pullman, delivers this iconic speech prior to a last-ditch mission concocted by Jeff Goldblum's character David Levinson. He then goes on to man a fighter jet and instantly becomes the most legendary president of all time in the process.

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the midway junket for Independence Day 2, and it once again features President Whitmore, this time at a different stage in his career.
