Number One: The Villains
Most of the Marvel MCU and comic book fans know that Marvel's villains are a little lackluster. Its only decent villains, in my opinion, are: Red Skull, Loki and Obadiah Stain. As you look at DC they have: Joker; a villain that is so good it just makes Marvels' villains look like child's play, except for Loki ;) I believe, if Marvel doesn't fix its villain issue, it is going to affect them, sooner than later! So, I hope they learn from past mistakes, and from the fans. Look at Ward and the Kingpin; they are great villains. Marvel must focus on making their villains have more depth, and be slightly likable, or just plain evil.
Number Two: Gender Equity/Racial
Marvel has been lacking on giving women a bigger place in the MCU! That will soon change with the release of Captain Marvel!!! But, nonetheless, Marvel has really lacked on giving the women meaningful roles. Most of the time, they are mainly plot devices, which is sad. Marvel has also kept a mainly white cast, but they have been doing okay on that end, by giving us people like Falcon, and War Machine. They are still side characters or side kicks, but that will also change with the release of Black Panther. This is not just a problem on the movie front, but also the toy front! Iron man has four hundred toys, while Black Widow has twenty-nine, I believe. Come on Marvel!!!
Number Three: More Diversity
Most Marvel movies have a similar story; defeat the villain, and meet new characters. Although this works for now, it would be nice to see a diversity in they way they execute this. Maybe the reason I have an issue with this is, because the villains should be good and their just not that impressive, which takes away from the movie. Since most of marvels villains are lackluster, in my opinion, this makes the movies seem similar. So, maybe a good villain will help, because GOTG was fresh, and Ant-Man is also something new. So I hope this means that Marvel is learning, and that they will be giving us better movies each year. Because for the next five years, it's non stop Marvel movies.
