Oh sweet summertime; where the weather is hot and travelling is on everybody’s mind. Here is a list of horror movies that just might make you rethink your vacation plans and just want to say home and enjoy a good movie.

1)Hostel 1&2 (2005/2007)

These movies both feature a group of Americans who go to visit Bratislava, Slovakia. These young adults, who are just trying to enjoy their time in a foreign city, have no idea what’s in store for them. On what seems to be perfect getaway, they end up getting kidnapped and auctioned off to rich millionaires who want a taste of what it’s like to commit a murder. With both movies directed by Eli Roth, you can expect plenty of gore.

2)Turistas (2006)

Turistas includes another group of American’s are on a foreign vacation to the beautiful country of Brazil. When their bus breaks down, they decide to follow a trail to a hidden beach. The beach seems perfect filled with locals, liquor, and dancing, but things aren’t always what they seem to be. The next day they wake up after being drugged and robbed and decide to seek shelter with their new friends “uncle”, who has plans to harvest their organs.

3)The Ruins (2008)

Here we have another movie that features a group of American’s on a lovely vacation to a foreign country Mexico. Their vacation is all fun and games until they met a German man who is heading up to the old Mayan temple and invites them along. When they arrive the locals aren’t as welcoming as they had hope, and immediately surround the temple not letting them leave. Long story short, the ruin is filled with carnivorous and infecting plants.

4) An American Werewolf in London (1981)

In this movie, we have two American boys who are out on a walking tour of Britain, or in other words backpacking around Britain. While on their trip, one of the boys get mauled to death by a werewolf and the other one gets infected with a curse that causes him to become a werewolf. After he gets infected, he begins having nightmares of becoming a werewolf and of his dead friend.

Wolf Creek is about three friends who are on a road trip to Wolf Creek National Park in the Australia Outback. These friends find themselves in a little bit of trouble when their car breaks down. The friends decide to sleep in the car, when Mick Taylor shows up to rescue them and help fix their car. Little does the trio know that Mick Taylor has some other plans for them which include torture and murder.

6) Cabin Fever (2002)

I had to make sure to add movies that happened here in the United States! Cabin Fever, another Eli Roth film on my list, is about a group of friends who rent a cabin for a week retreat in the woods. Their trip goes south really quick when a member of their groups comes in contact with a flesh eating virus. Not knowing how she came into contact with the virus, the group gets sent into a panic as more of them continue to get infected. Hint, don't drink the water.

7) The Hills Have Eyes (2006)

Another travel movie that takes place in our own backyard. The Hills Have Eyes, is a horror film about a suburban family on a family vacation to sunny California through the American Southwest. Their family vacation turns bad when they break down stranded in the middle of the desert. It gets even worse when they find out they are being stalked by a group of cannibalistic mutants who have made the hills their home.
