The first season of Daredevil was a tour de force and pretty much everything I want out of a superhero show on Netflix. It's binge-worthy, carefully crafted, and, above all else, gleefully entertaining. Marvel's first foray into a major streaming-based program pushed the limits, and left many of us wondering what season two has in store.
With last month's news that Jon Bernthal The Walking Dead) has been cast as the Punisher, fans were left to wonder just how much of a role Frank Castle would be playing. As a ruthless and dark vigilante with no trouble executing those stupid enough to stand in his way, the Punisher could not have a view of justice farther away from Matt Murdock's, so we always assumed the two would clash.
Now, a source tells Nerdist that the new co-showrunner Marco Ramirez has been referring to the next season as "Daredevil vs. the Punisher." So, we knew that he would cause some headaches, but now it's looking like he's going to play a major role, potentially even being the main antagonist of the season.
Nerdist points out that it also could be more of a philosophical battle with Daredevil and the Punisher juggling their opposite approaches to ensuring the safety of Hell's Kitchen. There's still the strong likelihood that Bullseye will show up (even though it hasn't been confirmed), which makes me think that the Punisher and Daredevil will have an early bout before teaming up to take down the supervillain.
It's still a lot of speculation at this point, but all signs are pointing to some good old fashioned punishment for our Catholic hero in 2016.
