A lot of people are amped for the new Star Wars because of some of the old school franchise veterans like Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher reprising their iconic roles of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia respectively. The shot of Ford as Captain solo with Chewbacca made the trailer for that very reason - the producers knew what they were doing.
I mean does it get more epic than this trailer?
But another defining part of this new chapter of Star Wars in [Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens](tag:711158) is the new cast. They'll be the main focus, with most of the marketing so far being around Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), and Rey (Daisy Ridley). Ridley's character is currently swirling around the rumor mill, and it seems she may be parented by an interesting couple.
Remember that Rey's last name hasn't yet been revealed. The rumor is that she's a Solo, the daughter of Han and Leia. Rey appears, from what we've seen so far, to be a scavenger and to live on the planet Jakku. That's where the super awesome air chase goes down between the Millenium Falcon and the TIE fighters. It would make sense that her living there means she'd be the offspring of the two Rebellion heroes.
Making Star Wars delivered this update - they're one of the premiere outlets for The Force Awakens news. Their sources are anonymous, but they're all saying the same thing: None of the new hero characters are Solos or Skywalkers. The closest thing we have to confirmation for this rumor is a quote from an undisclosed source:
“It would not knock me on my knees to learn she [Rey] is a Solo. VII does not answer that question. It just presents it.”
It's an interesting quote, because, like with Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, they never delivered any explicit family member mention. There will be scenes with Han and Rey, so we'll probably have a forced mention of their relationship somewhere in there.
Hopefully we'll learn more at San Diego Comic-Con. There should be some announcements from Disney as it relates to Star Wars. Or so we'd hope.
