Despite the last installment of the Harry Potter franchise being released over 4 years ago, and the last book being released way back in 2007 (I know, I'm still sad too), fans of the series are still very active and finding new ways to look at the franchise. Today Tumblr user reallybadtextposts proved just how active the Harry Potter fandom is by creating an extremely sweet fan theory from a small section of text in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Take a look at the post as explained by Tumblr user Reallybadtextposts:
This is such a cool theory - of course Lupin and Peeves would have known each other when Lupin was a student! They would have certainly had run ins with each other when Lupin was sneaking around Hogwarts with Sirius, James and Peter Pettigrew using the Marauders Map, and judging by the song that he sung about Lupin, he may have known his wolfy secret as well - perhaps from his school years spent hiding in the shrieking shack at the full moon.
While I'm not sure I agree with Reallybadtextposts entirely - after all, the only people Peeve's really showed any respect to were Professors Dumbledore and McGonagall, along with the Bloody Baron (and perhaps the Weasley twins) - I think that the theory is very sweet. At the very least it certainly shows that Lupin is a much cooler teacher than most of the others at Hogwarts, who usually play right into Peeves' traps. Though there is a pretty big part of me that hopes Lupin and Peeves did have a frenemies type relationship back in his school days, and that his "loony, loopy Lupin" song was a call back to those times.
