If you’re one of the millions of us who’ve been stricken with Sanrio fever at some point in your life, this is pretty much the best news ever.
A HELLO KITTY MOVIE IS HAPPENING! I REPEAT: A HELLO KITTY MOVIE IS HAPPENING!!
Per Deadline, Sanrio - the Japanese company which created the famous cartoon cat that was a staple images on all of our No. 2 pencils, lunchboxes, sweatshirts and everything else growing up - has finally decided to take bow- accessorized feline to the movies. And her long-awaited close-up will be no small thing, either.
The budget for the film will be somewhere between $160 million-$240 million (read: HUGE), so when we finally do get to say hello to our (full of life and energy/moving) friend on the big screen, it'll be an event.
No word yet on which of Kitty's famous friends like Kerokerokeroppi, Pekkle, Pippo, or Bad Badtz-Maru will also make a (brief part in a film) in the pic, but hopefully it'll be a full-on family affair just like the Hello Kitty theme part that opened in China last month (yes, that is a thing that happened).
