Darth Vader: There will be a substantial reward for the one who finds the Millenium Falcon. You are free to use any methods necessary but I want them alive - no disintegrations!

Boba Fett: As you wish.

With this short scene, Boba Fett established himself as one of the best fictional characters of all time. Not only in the "Star Wars" universe but in cinema as a whole. He is a vital part of the "Star Wars" mythos and he didn't even have to talk!. Movie characters define themselves by timeless quotes or performing such amazing scenes that remain in our heads forever.

But Boba Fett just stood there, sharing the screen with Darth Vader and for the first time, our Sith Lord wasn't who drew our attention.

A character that personifies danger, mystery and ambiguity; in other words, he is the definition of cool. Neither a hero or a villain, Boba Fett told us everything we needed to know without saying a word: He is the man you need to get the job done. Boba Fett is not only a Powerful Force because of his abilities but also because he has established himself as a timeless icon in popular culture. So, now that we described our Powerful Force, it's time to name the 4 individuals that could bring our favorite bounty hunter to his knees. The criteria used to choose the characters was based on the possibility of a real encounter with Boba Fett and someone that could be compared with him. Obviously, Superman is out of the question, for example. Also, all 4 characters have the same line of work as him and are established icons themselves in their respective genres. They say that to be the best, you have to beat the best, right? All of these characters can beat, capture or eliminate Boba Fett and are listed in ascending order starting with one of them having a close victory and ending with someone that could easily take Boba Fett's place as the best bounty hunter in the galaxy. Only one rule, though. No disintegrations.

4. Rick Deckard - Blade Runner

"Ex-cop. Ex-blade runner. Ex-killer"
"Ex-cop. Ex-blade runner. Ex-killer"
Deckard would have a similar confrontation with Fett as he had with Roy Batty at the end of Blade Runner. The setting would be Kamino, the planet that gave life to Boba Fett as an unaltered clone requested by Jango Fett, his father, to raise as his own son. To Deckard, Boba Fett is another replicant in need of "retirement".Boba Fett will find his demise under the rainy skies of the planet that once was his home. Once again, Rick Deckard faced a far superior individual and managed to come out victorious but was it because he was better than Boba Fett? Maybe so, but while the people Deckard hunts fight for their lives, the meaning of Deckard's own is still up in the air. And like Batty, Boba Fett had seen things that no one else would believe and all those moments will be lost in time... like tears in the Kamino rain...

3. Spike Spiegel - Cowboy Bebop

"Just a humble bounty hunter, ma'am"
"Just a humble bounty hunter, ma'am"

Spike has many talents and abilities, including very sharp eyesight, abnormally acute perception, and extraordinary luck. It seems at times that Spike has a super human ability to manipulate the odds on his favor.

Their battle would be based on their very opposite personalities. Boba quiet in nature, while Spike displaying sometimes nonchalant behavior. Nevertheless, Spike is more than capable to handle Boba Fett.

After a space chase aboard the Bebop, Spike and his crew would catch up with Boba Fett's ship inside an asteroid field. Boba Fett quickly turns the tables on the Bebop's crew by camouflaging first his ship in between the asteroids and boarding Spike's vessel shortly afterwards, incapacitating, not eliminating, the rest of crew. Boba's quarrel is with Spike and Spike only.

Ultimately, Spike would get the upper hand after a series of fortunate (or unfortunate) events that will cause Spike to come out victorious. Sometimes, to beat Boba Fett is better to be lucky than good. You just have to witness a blind Han Solo over a Sarlacc pit to confirm this.

2. Deathstroke - DC Comics

"I'm not a villain. I'm a mercenary"
"I'm not a villain. I'm a mercenary"

This is the man that brought down the Justice League of America (Identity Crisis #3, October 2004) sans the big three (Batman, Wonder Woman & Superman). But still, he made short work of super heroes like Elongated Man, the Flash, Zatanna, Hawkman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, the Atom and Green Lantern. All in the same fight!

If there's a comic book equivalent of Boba Fett, that would be Deathstroke.

Similar code of ethics, Deathstroke is neither a villain or a hero. Their encounter would be a straightforward government contract. Being similar to Deathstroke, the powers that be are worried to have two extraordinary and potentially dangerous individuals around. It is decided that it would be better to employ both of them (without their knowledge) and make them take each other out.

Deathstroke and Boba Fett would get involved in a cat & mouse type of situation where it is not quiet clear who has the edge. Until Deathstroke finally shows why he is a force to be reckoned with. Deathstroke would dive straight towards Boba's trusty Blas Tech EE-3 rifle fire and getting seriously injured by Fett's fire power in the process. But Deathstroke will manage to get close enough to use his sword in close combat and rendering Boba Fett incapable of a counterattack.

Yes, Deathstroke has an advantage thanks to his regenerative healing factor but it requires a calculated risk to decide to go ahead with that kind of strategy. Deathstroke knows that Boba Fett can only be defeated using every trick in the book, even if that means using his own life to do it.

This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object.

And now, I give you my number one character that could claim the title of best bounty hunter in the galaxy...

1. Samus Aran - Metroid (video game series)

"My past is not a memory. It's a force at my back"
"My past is not a memory. It's a force at my back"

Space ship, check. Iconic armor, check. Kick-ass name, check.

Both Samus and Boba have a rich history that started with both been left orphaned at an early age. Both taken in by groups that defined their skills and both ended up working as bounty hunters. Their legends would only grow with each impossible feat after another.

Samus would not only defeat Boba Fett, she would take the mantle of the best bounty hunter in the galaxy.

Boba Fett knows this and he would do something that it would be mostly unthinkable of happening. Boba Fett would hire Samus Aran to take him out. The Jedi had tried. The Sith had tried. Other bounty hunters had tried and none of them have been able to defeat Boba Fett. Why? one good reason. Samus would never underestimate him.

Boba Fett knows he will lose even with all his skill and wit employed in this battle. But Boba is wise and he knows that the time to pass the torch has come and the best part, she will not have other ulterior motives. She will accept the job and get it done.

Just like it should be.
