I don't know what Marvel has planned as far as a storyline to their upcoming movies after [Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409), but I kinda hope it's something like this.

You see, there was a time in the comics when Norman Osborn temporarily cured himself of being the Green Goblin and became head of a group of super-humans that protected the world--the Dark Avengers. And he used the Iron Patriot armor to do it.

Yup. This guy...

Willem Dafoe brought an over-the-top villain insanity to the original Spider-Man movie in 2002. I can't see anybody else in the role of Norman Osborn. And now, Spider-man and his rogues' gallery is together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was Lt. Col. James Rhodes, War Machine, who became Iron Patriot during Iron Man 3. The MCU Iron Patriot armor was just War Machine with a new paint job of red, white and blue. Think tank Advanced Idea Mechanics came up with the idea and implemented it in the US' war against the Mandarin. In [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](tag:293035), Rhodes went back to his original War Machine colors after AIM was discovered as being evil. But how cool would it be to have Osborn in the Iron Patriot armor instead?

Following the events of Civil War, Captain America is probably in jail or dead and Iron Man/Tony Stark disgraced. The world turns to Norman Osborn, industrialist, to help rebuild the super-human world and keep the peace.

"When he (Norman Osborn) decided to create a new team of Avengers he felt the team needed the heroic images of Captain America and Iron Man. Thus he decided to create this battle suit painted with the colors of Captain America's costume which was cobbled together from StarkTech that had been confiscated from Tony Stark's armory at Stark Tower (Marvel)."

I could see that happening in a movie after the events of Civil War. Osborn just taking over the Avengers Tower and using Stark's armor. Bringing back those Iron Patriot colors would bring back the positive feelings that AIM intended when they created the paint scheme. It could also be considered a slap to the face for both Cap and Tony by Osborn. Also, having the heroes of Captain America and Iron Man they way they used to be would be necessary to the national healing after Civil War.

The reveal to the public could go like this:

Approved.
Approved.

"I am the Iron Patriot!"

I am Iron Patriot!
I am Iron Patriot!

A ruthless fighter (and killer) in virtually unbeatable iron Man armor? Basically a bad guy in Iron Man armor. Check out that name tag. Osborn was made for this.

Yeah I did that
Yeah I did that

Imagine seeing a typical Iron Man Heads-Up-Display with DaFoe's face?

JARVIS?
JARVIS?

Or him getting into his Patriot suit with the Iron Man 2 -style gantry? I only mention the old gantry because his suit would be made up of old Iron Man armor. And I like the way the mechanism works to put on and remove the armor.

Oh it's good to be back...
Oh it's good to be back...

Could Norman Osborn having unlimited power over the US and super-humans lead to this?

Our Avengers would have to come back together to defeat this threat. And since Civil War and the Super-Human Registration Act, could the public be on Norman Osborn's side?

ME?
ME?

And who could be Osborn's primary nemesis during all this?
