In the year of 2127 the United States joined with multiple other Eastern world nations in what would become known as the One World Government. The plan had been laid in place for decades, the execution: flawless. The one thing they failed to realize was nature itself. The resilience of man. People would not stand for the laws that would follow so they did the only thing they could, they fought. Lives were lost and homes destroyed, but in the end, the many outweighed the few.
January 28th, 2029: In the dead of winter the OWG, or what was left of it, exercised their last option to stop the civil unrest once and for all. As bombs fell we watched the world we once knew die. Grass turned to dust, water to air, animals became almost non existent... But once again: nature itself. The resilience of man.EXT. THE EMPTY DESERT OF - DAY
The desert stretches as far as the eye can see, cut off at the horizon by distant mountains hiding nothing but the emptiness beyond the peaks. Everything is baron safe for a small one-street town nestled by what use to be a lake.
A group of 30 or more outlaws approach, every last one of them armed. Their clothes are dirty and worn practically falling off of their body. You can tell by their eyes that they're starving, maybe to the point of madness.
ALICE, mid-30's, the rugged and beautiful leader, and KIDD, late 20's, cartoonishly handsome and mildly capable, stand unarmed at the entrance to town.
A little over 30.
I don't like the sounds of that.
I think we can handle them.
I'm not talking about that...think of the things
they've been doing to keep that many people
... in this.
A breeze rolls through, sending the half intact doors flapping.
I don't want to. It's not the things they did to get
here that bothers me. It's the things they will do to
get where they're going.
You're terrifying. You know that, right? You always say horrifying things to me that are deeply insightful.
The outlaws gain ground, within 30 yards.
(shouting to the approaching outlaws)
What do you want?
They continue to approach.
WHAT BRINGS YOU!?
They aren't gonna stop.
20 yards. Now they're starting to sprint.
Alice, they aren't gonna stop!
Alice reaches her hand inside her coat pulling a pistol. She looks to Kidd.
I've got 9 rounds left.
She aims her weapon in front of her, fixing her eye across the sight as she meticulously places her shots. She pulls the trigger.
Kidd retrieves an aluminum bat and a trashcan lid that he uses in the form of a shield. He snatches up a machete and returns to Alice's side as she fires her last bullet. He hands her the machete as the remaining outlaws reach them.
Alice swings, connecting three or four times before her first two victims fall. She looks over to see Kidd being pummeled and moves to save him until--
MICHELANGELO, 15, a mutated red-eared slider turtle with a knack for cracking jokes, comes rolling out of one of the houses barreling into Kidd's attackers. Mikey immediately begins to swing his nunchucks connecting several direct-to-face blows as he fends off the outlaws.
The outlaws begin to back away, starring at Michelangelo as if he's a monster.
Oh come on guys. The world's gone to hell, but I'm
sure you remember what a turtle looks like.
(making an inch with his fingers)
Little fellers with the...shells.
(to Kidd and Alice)
I don't think it's gettin' through.
Upon hearing him speak they become even further worked up yelling and spitting in their direction.
(to Kidd and Alice)
I think these guys are cat people.
One of the outlaws removes a couple sticks of dynamite and lights them before throwing them toward Alice, Kidd and Michelangelo.
The three of them hit the deck as a HUGE GUST OF WIND crashes down sending the sand and dirt of the desert flying up behind them passing over like a wave, intercepting the dynamite and colliding with the outlaws as the dynamite EXPLODES killing those who aren;t suffocated below the earth.
The dust settles to reveal STORM, an ageless god among men, her bandage that is tightly wrapped around her torso covered in blood.
Oh thank God! They would have painted the desert
sand with our blood.
We would have been fine.
No way Jose. We were cannibal pizza for sure.
With that mindset...
But thank you. Seriously.
I take it that you're feeling better?
Better than yesterday.
You should be resting. We need you.
(looking past them)
I don't we're going to have time for that.
The three of them turn around and look to the horizon.
THE HORIZON - An ARMY of outlaws in the distance.
You don't want to know.
1: THE MUSCLE
ALICE (Resident Evil)
Alice is almost unstoppable having been mutated with the T-Virus giving her super human strength. She is a force to be reckoned with being a "supremely efficient killing machine" that become more skilled and more calculated over time. 5 years into the apocalypse and she is a wrecking ball. She is absolutely ruthless in the case of survival and I can think of no one better to have in company with me as we track across the desert fleeing our inevitable ending. She is the security and backbone you need.
Not to mention, she is absolutely gorgeous and with limited options, my chances increase giving us the opportunity to restart the human race if needed...or not needed. Whatever, the world ended. Point is if there's no hope for the human species than you need a man and a woman and they need to make life happen again...and again and again.
2: THE LIFE FORCE:
MICHELANGELO (TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 1990)
I think it goes without being said that in an apocalyptic event EVERYONE needs to be able to fight back. In this case, every other member of the group has to bring something more to the table than just beating down the enemy when the time comes. For that, I would bring in Mikey as my comic relief and obviously, best friend in this scenario. As a writer and entertainer I fully believe that our skills to entertain aren't just random, useless talent. Stories have been around for thousands of years and they need writers and actors, musicians and painters to tell them.
At the end of the world, if you find yourself in the win column as far as living, then you're going to need someone to pick you up when you're at your absolute lowest. No matter what seemed to happen to the turtles, Mikey always had a good one liner or found humor where there was none.
Another thing that makes him a solid choice is that he's just a good guy with a strong moral who values one thing over anything else: Brotherhood. We survivors have to stick together and can't battle one another over petty things. We must always see the beauty in one another and do our bests every day to treat those around us like the family we were given. The brotherhood of man... AND woman
3: THE KEY TO HUMANITY: FOOD AND SURVIVAL
Oh yeah. Storm. First of all, who wouldn't want to have a superhero with them in the apocalypse? There are a number of ways in which you could find yourself outnumbered or cornered with little to no bullets left and barely enough muscle power left to slay your foes at arms reach. What better way to handle the situation than to have Storm fly in and electrocute the shit out of anyone who tries and bring harm upon the innocent? Need to spot a safe haven and make sure the cost is clear? She can fly up a couple hundred feet and scope it out. Plus she can cover more terrain than anyone in the group altogether.
Most importantly along our journey through the wasteland we will encountered people who have survived, and save others who may face death today or tomorrow. As we collect others and time goes on with the sun getting hotter and water becoming more and more scarce we will need a way to have mother nature work in our advantage. Storm IS mother nature. She can make it RAIN. WATER.
I don't think it really needs spelled out, but I'ma gonna do it anyway. Water equals healthy land equals crops equals food equals life. And without Storm, even if we did survive the outlaws head hunting us for food and trophies, we may fall victim to the hand of the sun and find ourselves breathing our lasts breaths on the dry, dead soil that once brought life to the world we call home.
