The Dark Knight is without question one of the world's most iconic and renowned superheroes. Batman has been around since 1939, this puts the Bat as one of the world's longest standing heroes.

To celebrate the success and longevity of the franchise, a talented bunch of artists has put together a collection of pictures that show us in brilliant detail what our masked hero would look like if he were to exist in an entirely different time.

This utterly mind blowing collection will take you through the ages. These images are so foreign yet so familiar. Each artist for each image has totally captured the essence of Batman and imported that essence into an age that was until now without a savior.

The Medieval Batman

Living between the times of 500 AD and 1500's , this Medieval Batman is a heavy duty swordsman. Complete with a fully armor plated suit interwoven with adaptable chainmail. Still bearing the Dark Knight's crest on the chest, this unsung hero stands for justice and protects those that cannot protect themselves.

Viking Batman

Beard compulsory

Living between 800 AD and 1066, this colossal hero would have fought his way through Northern Europe. Known for their brutality, this Batman would certainly fit the darker more brutal Batman storylines.

The Iron Batman

This version of Batman has a certain Tony Stark influence. In this scenario it is feasible to consider that Wayne Industries has bought out Stark Industries and as a result gave birth to Iron Batman.

Revolutionary Batman

The date is 1714, Britain has built mighty empires across the globe but this Batman remains in London. Our hero is watching over the poor and the weak. While many of the rich feast and gorge, our revolutionary Batman fights for the good and the honest. Armed with just his sword and wits this is one slick hero.

Zombie Batman

As with any adaptation in today's day and age, this collection would not be complete without a The Walking Dead crossover! Zombie Batman, as if Batman isn't hard enough to kill!

A Real Dark Knight

This towering hero is the real deal. The actual Dark Knight comes to life in full battle armor complete with the mighty broadsword. The Batmobile is replaced by his noble steed.

The Underworld Batman

Risen to expunge evil

This is the ever so scary depiction of Batman that has emerged from the underworld. This Batman returns to earth to sweep the plains clear of all those that commit evil. A righteous curse that will plague the evil doers across all centuries.

A sketchy take on Batman

Some question his antics but at heart he is still a good guy. Dubbed a pirate by the Royal Navy, Batman is a vigilante of the seas. The 'Bat-Sail' navigates the seven seas in search of those who need him most.

Renaissance Dark Knight

Pretty bad-ass

Our hero fights against evil in this period from the 14th to the 17th century. This Batman is one of my favorites, complete with full armor, shield and sword, this is one formidable force of the age.
