The Chinese market for movies has always been there, but recently China's massive interest in hits like Furious 7, [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](tag:293035), and Jurassic World has been great for Hollywood for a reason that many may not at-first realize. Chinese actors, often overlooked by Hollywood, are now getting way more looks for BIG time films.

Hong Kong tabloid Apple Daily has reported this morning that Donnie Yen has joined [Star Wars: Episode VIII](tag:711868) as well as Rogue One. Apparently he beat out Jet Li, Stephen Chow, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Daniel Wu, Wang Leehom and Chang Chen for the role.

Of course this news comes from a tabloid that isn't overly reliable, but there had been rumors that Gareth Edwards and his crew were looking to plug a Chinese actor into the Star Wars greater universe. This is a good move for the franchise, in my opinion, and I can't wait until more Asian actors are given a chance for roles in some of the biggest franchises like this.

Really cool nod here. Not to mention, if you're a fan of kick-ass action, Yen is your guy!
